As a landlord, I'm totally cool with that. My management company is always pushing me to jack up the rent, and I refuse. I will not gouge my tenants. I also make sure they have toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels, and cold water in the fridge on move in day. Respect your tenants, and they respect your property. I have had a tenant take advantage, but only one.

Yep, really doesn’t do anything. At the end of the day, landlords get to decide who they want to rent to and for what price. How do you balance out the fundamental power dynamic, you either have to “fix” the free market and let some people actually lose money on their investments. Rent prices only fall naturally if the supply of rentals increase, or the demand of rentals decrease.

Mike - Great presentation of our wonderful community. I watched it being built all around me...3rd or 4th family to move into this "open area" at the time. I moved from only a few blocks away in Meadowvale which was also built around me. There were probably 20 -25 homes in Meadowvale when we moved there from Toronto. We used to pass 'Meadowvale' (unnamed back then) on the way to U of Waterloo and thought some day it would be developed so as soon as we saw the advertising we were here in a flash.
