Kind of if a Kaos was a Turbine. I like it.
ha 🤣
What size fuel and smoke tanks did you use.?
Sorry this is not my plane and I don't know. Next time I'm down that way I'll ask. You could try asking on this video czcams.com/video/IvPlE6N3MJI/video.htmlsi=M82OXRsv6Xx9cLd_ its the same plane and they maybe be able to get the info for you
I think I need one of theses…
Absolutely 👍
VERY NICE JUG,,
Agreed
Thank you for sharing! That Beaufighter looks great, what size is it?
Thanks for your comment! Sorry, I don't have any official stats on the Beaufighter, but I believe the wingspan is around 1.8m (71").
Massive thanks to Wayne for trusting me to burn a tank with this lovely Jet
We look forward to seeing your Turbine Jet in the future 🤣🤣
ouch😢
yep
Smooth flying, very cool model of an impressive airplane.
It sure is!
I’ve Guys links on planes ??
? phoenixmodel.com/Product.aspx?ProductId=590 ? unsure which size
Finish building mine haven't flow it yet. Also ran into a number of issue during the build. Plane a little nose heavy I should haven't add a second pilot that made the canopy weight 1.5lbs yeah. I started to black out my canopy like yours. Also have a bigger tank for more flight time. Hoping the maiden goes well. Also had to widen the wheel well, gear was hanging up cause the wheel doesn't sit center in the wheel well. Nice flight.
All the best for you test flight. I'm not sure if there was any build challenges with this one or not. But it was very impressive to watch fly.
@@RCDougNSN There was one other question I forgot to ask. Did you CG your plane using the CG jig that came with the kit, if so did it work for you? That is my next step. But I also use a EZ Balancer to check the CG. Will try the jig next but never had good luck with those CG jig. Thanks for responding back.
Wow, that is one solid looking airplane and excellent flying, rock solid! That is a great video of a P-47.
Thanks - The video actually does not do this plane justice.
Looks like you got yourself a hot rod there, buddy. Happy landings!
Thanks 👍
@@RCDougNSN You're welcome. I enjoyed watching that. The Pitts loves to do snaps and spins. Rudder maneuvers are fun!
Love it!
Me too!
Can you do a tutorial?
Ha Ha Ha!! As the video started I was looking at the size of that plane and thinking to myself "What size engine does he have? It looks like it would fly just fine on a 0.25... maybe even a 0.15. " Then I looked at the notes and almost screamed... 0.46 OS AX !!!! Then I saw it fly.... and said to myself... ya, NO WAY you could have THAT much fun with a .25 or 0.15 on it. I got into this in the 1970's.... some things never change!!!!! The general rule in R/C when it comes to engine size has been and continues to be "Well, what can I get away with?" Ha Ha Ha. Enjoy!
Haha, glad you enjoyed it! Yes, the 0.46 OS AX really brings the plane to life, but it was designed around a 0.45 size motor back in 1983. It's amazing how much fun you can have with the right engine. The old rule of 'What can I get away with?' definitely still applies. Thanks for the nostalgic comment and for watching!
Doug, can I suggest you watch Michael Wargo's videos on landing turbine jets. They are very informative, the main thing you will see, and it works for everyone, is get the jet low a long way out and fly it all the way (under some power) to the threshold and then just hold it off the ground as long as u can until it just touches down gently. Always use at least take-off flaps (if not full flaps) when you land, depending on head wind and the way the jet glides. Good luck and BTW, nice jet, and doesn't an MB339 fly like a dream.
Thanks for the tips! @MichaelWargo videos are great-I’ve seen them too. Just to note, I was filming this flight, not piloting. The MB339 really is an amazing jet. Appreciate your kind words and advice!
Sometimes the classic prop-driven aircraft appear to fly and maneuver much too fast for scale. This model seems to fly at a more true to scale speed. Especially liked that loop near the flights beginning. Very true to scale. Good job!
Appreciate your kind words!
One of many planes I have but have yet to put together. Mine will be powered by an RCGF 35Ra. Sounds like he has that DLE pretty much dialed in perfectly!
This is a real fun plane to watch. Yeah, the DLE engine on this one was running like a charm.
Very nice!!!
Thanks 👍
I have the same jet NIB and have an 80 turbine for it, looking at your speed my 80 should be enough. was the recommended CG easy to achieve and how did the jet feel at the recommended CG. Thanks for sharing the video Cheers.
Hi, yeah an 80 is a good size for this plane have seen another with that setup which works well. This video shows a bit of the component placements czcams.com/video/WXXRz4RBDEE/video.htmlsi=WOLNqD1_g3UTKGJA . I believe it is flown at the factory CG with minimal fine tuning. Does seem to work best with the wing fences.
@@RCDougNSN great thanks for that, I’ll look forward to the build and eventual flights, good to know it’s a good flying plane
Awesome! Great flights ! Great filming 👍🏻👍🏻
Many thanks
Electric models are for indoors, just so unrealistic outdoors .
I don't think they sound right either ☺

I like the Pietie. The four smoker sounds good.

i used the airlines
👌
Seems to be a lively model. Who designed, made the kits back in the 80's? Engine too lean, by the sound of it.
As above - I remember watching these fly when I was learning to fly in the 80s
How is landing gear with this bird ? Pretty good ?
Am use the gear that come with the kit and it seems to be OK
@@Mattig66 sweet ! Thanks 🙏🏼
I've witnessed multiple flights of these planes (two different air frames) and haven't encountered any issues with gear retraction or deployment. Additionally, I've seen them handle heavy landings on grass without any problems.
@@Mattig66 thanks Matt 👍
@@RCDougNSN awesome Thanks!
Nice flight. Base on your experience, did you notice any tip stall issue.. as some mentioned it was an issue with this model. Thanks.
From my experience Bae hawks in general are known for tip stalls on landing, it’s the design of the wing .if you get to slow and flare to much she will bite don’t let the nose get to high… keep nice steady speed and go easy on elevator when landing .. a gyro will also assist you when landing if installed ..
@@andystoybox1723 Thinking about getting the plane. Can you comment honest opinion on the landing gear. Did you use stock or update to JPHobby gear, and so far is the gear holding up for you. Thanks. Subscribe already. Keep up the good work.
@@tedh173 if you would buy now you would get v2 .. they have upgraded gear and now it even comes with brakes 👍🏻👍🏻
@@tedh173 Thanks, have similar question in other video czcams.com/video/WXXRz4RBDEE/video.htmlsi=Dq5pRcK6i6Fugkak - Owner of this plane responce = "Am use the gear that come with the kit and it seems to be OK" - I've witnessed multiple flights of these planes (two different air frames) and haven't encountered any issues with gear retraction or deployment. Some one stole my citabra
Yeah they were flying like they stole it 😂😂
Really good flight, very confident and precise!
Thank you! Filming talented pilots is always a treat. I'm so glad you enjoyed the flight!
We prefer to make 'em into twins - no torque roll, no motor offset angle to muck around with (motors mounted on aluminium profile so can be shifter spannered down to suit the attack angle required) more air blown directly across the ailerons, no motor/prop right where Terror Firmer first crunches, no ESC under the battery, diff thrust available .. and probably a few more that I've forgotten. 😉😊
Yeah I have suggest this might have to do one myself 😀
I wouldn't use full flaps in windy conditions..
Yeah sometimes it can be a little hard to make that call when on the 1st & 2nd flights of a new build
@@RCDougNSNGenerally, it’s better to land at a higher airspeed in a crosswind or gusty conditions. During the first few flights, I start shooting approaches after I get it trimmed. With EDF’s, you only get 3 to 4 minutes to get it trimmed and figure out how to land it.
Beautiful,For me still one of the most exciting helicopters ever made 🎉
I agree! Cheers
what size Dle you have in there
It has a DLE-35 RA
Very nice!
Thanks!
What engines are you using?
It has ASP 65 4 strokes
Okay nice. I've installed OS 91s in mine and adding gear doors. My build is still in work
@@hawkhunter8180 That sounds like it will be a lot of fun
Nice Corsair!
Thanks! - Is one of our club members
Cool project!
Thank you! Cheers!
information 1:30 this is less-than ideal location of aileron servos.! specifically, that mass should be located just-forward-of the thirty percent of chord line. the ailerons are incorrectly located inboard. 1:32 putting the mass of a servo at the TAIL is the Opposite of smart.!!!
Ah true must be pretty bad coz it looks like it's not fly.. Oh hang on, it flies mint because it's a foam plane with heaps of thrust...
Thank you for your input! It's interesting to note the various design concerns that arise with the conversion of a chuck glider to RC. In this case, the conversion was indeed done on a budget, utilizing leftover gear from previous models. The placement of components was carefully considered to ensure that the center of gravity remained correct without the need for additional weight, as demonstrated in the flying video. Ultimately, these conversions are about having fun and learning, and they serve as valuable starting points for enthusiasts eager to delve into the world of RC flight. Your insights are appreciated!
1) As long as the CG ends up where it needs to be, it doesn't matter if they're forward or back. 2) The ailerons work just fine where they are. 3) Insulting people on the internet unprovoked with statements like "opposite of smart" is childish.
That's a beautifully constructed model. You don't get a true sense of the size of it - it would have been good to see the builder/pilot next to it for scale. I could hardly believe it is a 9 foot wingspan with a 60cc engine!
Thanks - I appreciate the feedback. I missed capturing the engine run-up before takeoff this time, but I'll make sure to include more of it in future videos. If you're interested, here's the factory spec for the plane: seagullmodels.com/gas-power-scale/pietenpol-air-camper-replica-j3-airplane-108-wingspan-40-60cc-468.html Stay tuned for more updates on this fantastic model!
@@RCDougNSN Mine is on order from the distributor here in the UK. It is supposed to arrive in February 2024. Conditions in the Middle East have meant that the freighter has had to go the long way arround! It is interesting to see a radial engine installation. I have a new Laser310 flat twin for my example. The prototype model sported a nice pair of chromed wire wheels. Apparently the cost and weight precluded them from being included in production kits. They have been changed lighter and cheaper DuBro or similar style alternatives. Rather a shame as the original examples really added an interest point. Do please keep us informed about the progess and experiences with your model. Thanks for posting your video. Best wished from the UK. Mike😄
@@mikekennedy389 Thanks, Mike! I'm excited to hear you've got one on order too. The wait will be worth it! The Laser310 flat twin sounds like a fantastic choice. I'll make sure to keep everyone updated on the progress and experiences with the model as and when I see it. Best wishes from across the pond! 😄
@@RCDougNSN Hi Doug. My kit is still in transit. It will be worth the wait! I`ve also taken delivery of a slightly larger self build Pietenpol from the American designer, Wendell Hostetler. Its about 118" wingspan and was cut here in the UK under licence by SLEC who recently bought out Belair kits. The box it arrived in weighed just over 12Kg. The kit included two sheet plan, the basic kit and an additional wood kit. The parts are huge and will make into the largest model in my collction. The spoked wheels are taken from a kids training bike and have a diameter of 12.5"! I intend to power it using a second Laser 310 flat twin or alternatively a new in box, five cylinder OS 300FR Sirius which I sourced from a guy in Italy. This has spent the past month in UK Customs at London Airport awaiting assesment for 20% import duty! Another reason why the UK should never has come out of the Eurpean Union. It has become a barrier to free and easy trade which was something we previously enjoyed. Let us hope I receive the engine soon......how difficult can it be! I`m prepared to pay the duty....just send me an invoice! All the best. Mike Kennedy
@@mikekennedy389 my plan from Wendell just arrived. Can decide on engine yet. I bought twin 40 stinger but now considering saito 61 twin. I got a Fg R3 60 thats how I came to this vid, but installing radial seems so wrong here
Nice landing! That motor sound is amazing. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks
Was stock pipe used?
Yes this has the factory tail pipe
How do you like it? Really good flyer?
Absolutely! It's a blast to fly, although I don't have much experience with other paramotors. Still, it's been a fantastic introduction to the world of paramotors for me.
@@RCDougNSN So the wing works good in a windy conditions?
@@933pilgrim It flies ok in a light breeze (bit stronger than in video) - I think its to small (weight etc.) for a wind - If you can get an evening with no wind that's the most fun
K120 is a lot of engine for a turbinator! I loved flying a Shulman Aviation with a K100, Probably one of my favorite rear turbine designs.
Yep its not lacking in power
It almost sounded like the connecting rod let go.
Yeah, was the snapped prop bolts trying to destroy the alloy spinner back plate
@RCDougNSN Ya I see that. It was a good recovery. Bipes burn off speed so fast with all that drag. Most people keep them in the air too long ending in disaster.
I had a con rod in a Saito break at the big end. Came through the crankcase. Engine locked up immediately.
