Your videos are really well explained, and I love the little bit of history behind the names. With the Labhraidh, I thought bh was pronounced as v, but it's a w. Does it depend on what letters are before or after it? Maybe you could do a video about the Irish alphabet and the different sounds letters make together x

I did better than I thought I would! I got about half of them straightaway, and about a fourth pretty close to correct. A few just left me đŸ˜”â€đŸ’«. Both my husband and I are of Irish descent. I was raised in the Irish Step Dance community, going to feisanna and ceilis. When we were having our babies, Irish or "Irish inspired" names were our go to choices. I campaigned hard for Maeve because I loved the idea of naming a daughter after such a strong woman, but my hubs wasn't a fan. He really liked Deirdre, but I didn't like the idea of naming our daughter after someone with such a horrible story (including her taking her own life). In the end we have a Mary (was this close to Maire!), a Fiona, and a Brigid. If they'd been boys they were to be Conor, Owen, or Declan.

I'm from New Orleans, and we use something similar to "yer man/one" which is "ya boy/girl". Usually means someone the other person knows, but could mean literally anyone, even yourself. "I ran into ya boy the other day." There was a popular radio DJ whose call-phrase was "It's ya boy, Wild Wayne!" and if you want someone to call you, you could say "Holla at ya boy." If you don't know them, you could replace "ya" with " ol' ", as in "ol' boy/girl/dude". "Check out ol' girl on the corner." You could use either whether you know them or not, though.

I carried the Christening Bonnet in my hand for my wedding then our daughters wore it when they were baptised. (Our hankie and christening gown have been in our family since the 1800’s.) I did the six pence in my shoe with a panty liner over it, 😂, the priest did the hand fastening with his stole, I had shamrocks and the claddagh sewn into my dress (family custom). We had our horseshoe blessed by the priest the day prior and had it propped up on a stand for our guests to bless. I wasn’t bucking family tradition! 27+ years later going strong. My Nana gave us my great Nana’s Lismore bell. We ring it just for fun as we never fight 😂. Brilliant job bringing the customs to light.

"Bring 🇹🇩 Troops Home! @GordBolton ·Jun 18, 2022 Replying to @DagnyTaggart369 I was curious about that name (Taggart) for a long time. We had some neighbors with that name out on the prairies when I was a child." Greetings Wolfe Momma & congratulations! The name of the neighbour was McTaggart. I am one of those stupid people who look for meaning in things including names. I asked what the name meant & no-one could tell me. Much much later I learned that the literal translation of McTaggart was son of a priest (druid) or even better son of one who honours the bards! Even more interesting is the ancient Tagar culture in the Valley of the Kings near the Altai Mountains who were very much into beautiful Scythian art 1000s of years ago. According to the Decimali Channel the population of Wales, Ireland, Scotland & some Baltic countries have high percentages of the Tagar DNA! I explored the theory that much, most maybe all the fair skinned blond haired population of Europe rode in on horseback from Central & Eastern Asia. An Iranian contemporary of Genghis Khan described him as a large man with red hair & green eyes -- maybe a cousin of the Eric the Red?
