Whimsical Birds Little Altered Book - Episode 3
Episode 3 of this cute little whimsical Altered Book!
After a busy few months making commissions and heading off to teach Altered Book making in Colorado at the Whimsy in the Rockies Retreat I wanted to make something small, quick, and of course, whimsical!
I have used:
* left over pieces of re-enforced file folders as card stock
* Distress Oxides in Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Ground Espresso and Salvage Patina
* Tim Holtz stamps from Field Notes
* Paper Artsy mini text stamp
* offcuts from various Stamperia scrapbook papers
* Hi-Tack glue and Elmers glue stick
* Sari Ribbon
* Digital labels from Fox Creative and The Junk Journal Studio on Etsy
My fussy cut images have come from vintage charity shop books and I have put photo of those books at the end of this episode...
Some of you have asked about specific items I use when crafting so I have created an amazon shop to make it easier for you to find the products I use. Big Bear Journal Flip Through

This beautiful journal was a commission from someone planning a trip to visit the bears in Canada and Svalbard. The brief I was given was "make it big and chunky and celebrate bears!" I think I definitely met the brief! The chunkiness did present some construction conundrums but I was super pleased with how sturdy it came out :-)

Hiya, yes! I particularly like that it is light weight and easy to move around and that I can cut and score without needing an extra piece of equipment. The brand is Vaessen Creative. I hope that helps 🙂

Pretty please can you do a video explaining the parts where you are putting paper in place, marking it, and sticking it? I can tell it’s something very clever, but I’m too dumb to understand it. Please 🙏
Oh please don't put yourself down in that way, you most definitely are not dumb! I only whizz through it because I've done it 100 times before! If you go to my playlists and find the one for Botanicals Butterflies and Bugs Journal and go to around 9 minutes in Episode 1 you'll see me doing it there. Also if you click on the little cog symbol on the bottom of the video screen there is an option for playback speed and you can slow the video down - that might help you see more clearly what I'm doing. I hope that helps 🙂x

What a beautiful little bird book! Watched from beginning to end and will go back to all your older videos now for sure. would you mind telling me which World of Birds book you had in the video? There are two with the same name but different authors. I also collect bird books. thank you so much.
thank you 💜 The World Atlas of Books doesn't have an author but the publisher is Colour Library Books and the editor Mitchell Beazley. /it was a 1989 Edition. Hope that helps! 🙂
