Hogg Foundation for Mental Health
United States
Registrace 6. 09. 2011
The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health is transforming how communities promote mental health in everyday life. We envision a Texas where people thrive in communities that support mental health and well-being.
The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health was established in 1940 by the children of Texas Governor James Hogg. The original $2.5 million endowment came from the estate of Will C. Hogg, the eldest of the Hogg children. Upon his death in 1930, his sister Ima and his brother Mike established the Hogg Foundation for Mental Hygiene (the organization’s original name) in his memory at The University of Texas at Austin.

The Future of Recovery
zhlédnutí 49Před 28 dny
Mental health care and recovery services have historically prioritized a clinical medical model. Under this model, expertise resided almost exclusively in the hands of professionally trained healthcare providers. Beginning in the 1960s and 70s, however, a recovery model emerged that put greater emphasis on the self-determination of “consumers” of mental health services and the expertise of indi...

Three amazing men I’m privileged to know. Thank you for joining us and sharing your expertise! ❤️
So awesome! Many blessings and prayers to you. From Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
Totally disagree with number 2. My parents didn't hit me because I was hitting someone else. They hit me because they were alcoholic and had anger management issues.
Powerful and this never gets old
If it is true that theft is evil, wrong and criminal, then how can a normal human being of sound mind say or prove that a theft of one dollar is morally excusable but NOT a theft of fifty million dollars? If we apply the same reasoning to physical force, then how can a normal human being of sound mind say that a (fierce but occasional) slap on the face or bottom is (perhaps) justifiable physical force but NOT caning or spanking someone two hundred times? A theft of one dollar is just as sinful, execrable and reprehensible as a theft of a trillion dollars and the same logic applies to VIOLENCE!! Only idiots and monsters love violence! I always feel angry that corporal punishment of children by parents or caregivers fails to get as much attention or condemnation as men’s physical abuse of women or women’s narcissistic abuse of men. This is indeed an immense shame, because it is very likely that adult abusers learn to be abusive from their seniors when growing up. Read the poem entitled “Children Learn What They Live” by Dorothy Nolte.
As a PNA staff member for Texas. I say, that I'm am glad to be a part of this field as my sister, my mother and an uncle were patients for the state. Even myself in the "system." I am glad to see the advancements made. But there is always room for improvements, as well. Come, work with us and make a difference in someone's life.
Hmmm.. I remember, when I was growing up, getting ready to do something stupid and then stopping because I knew I'd get my ass whooped if my mom or dad found out. I've never been in trouble with the law, I only get depressed around that time of the month , and I thank God that my parents "spanked" me every time I see kids acting a fool while their parents walk behind them asking them to stop- FOR THE 20TH TIME.
You stopped out of fear of violence. Not that you were convinced what you were doing was wrong.

I am currently studying to become a PSS and this video has truly inspired me.
North Texas State Hospital killed our son last year, he shouldn't have even been there. He was placed in 4 point restraints and left to die. The state hospitals are monitored by other state agencies and they are all protected by Abbott, the lives lost and those abused have been ignored and forgotten as if they weren't even human, it's so unbelievable that today you can see the same disregard for human rights as we did 100 years ago. This is supposed to be a time where we value all humans and we ensure equality but these people are still thrown away. We spoke with our son daily, multiple times and attempted to be totally involved in his care, it was expected that he would return home yet this is where we are.
A creator of substantive works.
I was spanked, it was always a last resort for my parents. They always made me understand why. At max, I got 1 to 3 depending on what I did. Like when I cheated on a test, or stole from my classmate. I deserved it, and I know that. It never harmed me, and I don't have any "mental illness".
I had to pull my pants down and lay over my couch. I was beat with a leather belt. If I flinched or began crying afterward, then the beating would continue until I stopped. I was absolutely terrified of my father. I lived in constant fear when he was around. Most beatings, I didn't even know what I had done wrong. This sort of thing has ever lasting effects on a child's brain development. Don't beat your children.
He who spares the whip hates his son
Ahhhhhhhh, raspberries.
3 cents is about right… same in 2023. Wtf
They didn't know what they were doing. If he had a loved one in there he'd would see things differently.
Interesting seeing this. I had no clue the Hogg family had a foundation for mental health. You would think, my county in Texas would have better services since, the family and their plantation resided here. Alas; Austin, Dallas, Houston, and El Paso get the majority of the funding.
I just can't with this grim documentary.
Concept of shame to be associated with the university of Texas at Austin is a huge surprise from this observer.
All those so called specialists doctors operating on those poor unfortunate people. For no reason. They no base science just decided to operate. Ridiculous. Nonsense. I’m surprised the system went along ..
Can no one see that this is a prison? Just because you call it a hospital, it does not make it a hospital. Imagine YOU are in the "hospital" , how then do you get out?
This isn't much of a problem now. If you are mentally ill now we just put you out on the street to fend for yourself. Free at last!
Mental illness can be a prison no matter where your physical body is. Jus sayin
@@myrajuju02 "mental illness" is a recent invention of man. If you go back in time before the term was invented , people made choices and some of their choices (if bad ones) were know as the seven deadly sins. You mean drug addiction can be a prison?
Health care has improved 1000% and we have an excellent system!!!

No mental health impact and bs on your theory of kids who get spanked hits orger
NOW everything is related to a mental illness, this is too many excuses and allow the bs to continue. life is not easy for anybody and this society is trying to make it so. thats not living. most of these experts, (NOT), dont have kids and dont know what anyone with one or more is going thru but you all allowing them to dictate to you what good? think nation for yourself. i'm not spearing any rodes over here and i'm only and auntie and godmother and they know but. i'm the funniest, and best aunt and yes they can tell me anything. so stop beating up on others in society due to race and raise the children and dont spear the rod..... I'm with you thats why there not mental health impact and bs on your theory of kids who get spanked hit orger because they know impact....,,
I really enjoy these! 😊
Ok.... Whatever
The bible says spare the rod spoil the child and God doesn't lie
Fun fact when it says that if means spare the Shepard's rod that you use to guide sheep not hit your children

Such gloomy music! We have a serious staff shortage, the hours are long, the work is demanding, both physically and mentally, the pay is poor, the conditions are outmoded. PLEASE, come work for us here at Texas State Hospital!
I would love to work for y’all! I’ve worked with adolescents in inpatient and in the community. I was a psych tech for many years! 🌻
It was the gloomy music generation (50s-60s) I have been working for the state of Texas for 20yrs as a PNA (1st started in 96) I have 22 yrs experience in this field. I'm glad the pay got better but as this recession gets worse idk for how long. But we need more help still. Also I understand if not everyone can do this job. It's not for everyone. I understand that. But if you want to make a difference in someone's life then please, we need compassionate people. Come work with some awesome people.

“Perpetuating the myth that mental illness causes gun violence adds stigma unnecessarily to people who already have WAY TOO MUCH stigma. And I’m going to explain how that works itself into hurting us and making life more, not less, dangerous.”

June 22, 2022 It sure is a heavenly feeling to be a father, but darn, your lies and deceit, seem to kill America. What don't you get? Why go that great length to conceal the identity of your wife and children. Jenny Arquero went after you, and you completely failed, but you don't have to continue to lie about mental health about, your state of being, about your $ thievings from the banks just to be super wealthy while the rest of Americans suffer dire pain. Burn and kill hospitals; otherwise we'll have the ordinary, working class Americans get you brain surgery to ease your suffering of mental illness and addiction. I was there in the state of MA in 2017 & 2018, and who did you call? Gamal Mubarak to say there is fake Irene Imanil in MA. Fuck you! You did that? And what was the gossip relayed to Russia?
