An important contribution to the Duo Violin and Cello Repertoire. This ranks way up there. This should get played much more often. Great harmonics! Enjoyable

This is a stunningly beautiful performance. The chamber orchestra arrangement makes all the musical details crystal clear. Tenor Karim Sulayman has a pure, even timbre that falls gratefully on the ears and his diction is perfect; I got every word of Agee's text. This is the second time I've heard this haunting work with a tenor (the first was Russell Thomas' lovely performance also available on CZcams). I won't give up any of the soprano performances, but it's good to hear Barber's exquisite music a little differently.

Wonderful example of Rabin's full range of evocative, expressive playing and technical mastery. Excellent audio quality. My teacher, Elaine Lee Richey (1958 Naumburg Prize Recipient), shared a practice cabin with Rabin at Meadowmount, and was Galamian's teaching assistant at Curtis and Julliard. Near the end of his life, he considered Rabin the best of his numerous great students. Thank you for posting !

I was thinking I was dead at my funeral since I had a fever fueled dream while watching Star Trek NG. Of course, being a musician, I had to know what it was. Brahms was such an underrated composer. Wagner hated him, and the two would spar while writing reviews of each others music. There is so much to learn about composers, and this music period is my favorite.

God bless them both and this blessed me!
