C'était ma jeunesse... mais pas de regrets...il y a Aujourd'hui de jeunes chanteurs et chanteuses d'opéra promis à un bel avenir... c'est rassurant de voir que des jeunes se passionnent pour l'art lyrique. Mais merci a vous tous de mettre en ligne ces merveilles de ma jeunesse.
This aria is perfectly executed from the beginning mezzoforte to the startled expression of shock and dismay when she hears the men approaching: "Ma chi giunge?" to the show-stopping high C (or is it b-flat?) at the end with that little flip (?) that only Price does. I just can't get enough of this performance. No one else measures up in this role.
Price is talented and excellent technique. The diction in Italian is perfect, the difficult notes come out effortlessly and her warm and sensual voice is among the best ever. A reference for Verdi and Puccini.
@@wyadore The arts, no matter which, carry a degree of subjectivity which often makes it difficult, if not impossible, to name a GOAT; however, in the case of female classical singers, to those who truly know the art of classical singing and performance, have taught it, lived it and have heard and seen the greats, even worked with them, there IS a GOAT. I am not about to engage in useless argument by naming her. I will say, though, it ISN'T Maria Callas. On top of all this, Mr. Esposito claimed Price was "the best artist America ever produced." Artist covers many fields of endeavor, making his an even more impossible claim.
