Ill admit this speech is miles better than the original dbz speech! Especially at 1:11! Apprently that line is right out of the manga! Why didnt the original dbz use it its way more impactful and meaningfull! Also on another note can we all agree (nostalgia for oldheads aside) that friezas voice is way better than the dbz one he acually sounds menacing and sadistic in dbz kai-dbz super (rip to chris ayers (friezas voice actor for dbz kai all the way up to db super) he is 100% the best frieza voice!

Anyone that prefers old Funimation Z to Funimation Kai is insane. I literally grew up in the early 2000s with DBZ and it holds lots of nostalgic and sentimental value to me... BUT Kai is simply better. The OST, the voice acting and the new and improved script is just chef kisses. It elevated what I already loved and it brought it closer to the manga.

To each their own. Some of yall can’t let go of the Superman-esque Goku we grew up seeing on Toonami but I prefer Kai just because it’s a more accurate adaptation of the manga. Goku’s heroic aspect is toned down a little. It’s the way Toriyama intended him to be.

I remember watching this on TV as a kid, all the way through to Goku "dying". Only to miss a couple episodes and come back to see Trunks go SS1. After all it took to see Goku get here the first time I thought they skipped a whole season, and decided to stop watching it for awhile 😅

What gets me about this is that it’s not just “Goku” like it usually is in the dub. They actually had Sean say “Son Goku”. Given FUNi’s tendency to just have his name be Goku, as if Son isn’t part of his name at all, I’m shocked and kinda impressed they went with this. If Sean really did have to fight to get them to call Goku his full name, then that’s incredibly sad.
