Nope, that's the first rapids about 5km from the launch, after that it's pretty chill for 10-15km. The rock garden is around 35km from launch I believe. Thanks!!

I loved it! I had a Mirrocraft 14 for a few years before this one and the Kodiak was a nice upgrade. Wider, more stable, deeper, more planing surface so actually a little faster and would stay planed out at slower speed. Tougher too since it’s welded vs riveted Mirrocraft. About the only downside vs my Mirrocraft was the Kodiak was a bit heavier. But well worth it I thought. I was kinda sad to sell the Kodiak but it became the 3rd boat and just wasn’t getting used enough between an inflatable jet boat and Crestliner Sportfish 1800 😁. Enjoy!

Do you remember how fast that 25 would push you?

If I remember right, around 32kmh with 2-3 adults with a 4 blade 12 pitch propeller. That was with a river runner prop guard installed and it dropped my top speed about 2-3kmh. That 25 also had the intake and carb off a 30 so it made a little extra power. I had a 3 blade 13” pitch on it for a while and it would top out around 40kmh with just me in the boat but struggled with 3 adults.

Thanks!! I’m running a 1995 Yamaha 40/28 3cylinder 2 stroke jet. It’s been the perfect balance between power and weight for the 420 size I find. When I’ve got 4 adults, I could use a bit more power but it’s rare I have that many people along. The wear liner and impeller are pretty worn so I’m definitely getting some loss of power there. Will be adding a poly foot and new wear ring soon which should improve output a bit. So far performance and durability have been great. My boat is a 2022 model, the only issues I’ve had are two small air bubbles along the seams, quickly fixed by squirting some glue in with a needle and squeezing them so it fills up the void and letting it dry.

No the bounce is just from the fact I’m using a plastic pole for the camera that’s about 1.5m long. It’s mounted to the transom so as the boat moves around it exaggerates the movement at the GoPro. I’m trying to figure out a way to keep it more steady but haven’t found anything simple yet. Might get one of those stainless steel arch’s that mount on the tubes and go across above the motor at the back.

Glad you enjoy! It’s kinda funky being able to look around everywhere eh. I’m loving the 420! Perfect for what I want, usually 1-2 adults plus dogs exploring mostly small rivers. I have had 4 adults plus dogs and it worked pretty well, just took longer to get on step. 470 would give more space for sure, and handle larger loads better. I was looking at that new Stryker, looks pretty solid and much cheaper! Hoping to see one out next year. Outback Boats out of NZ is starting to make their own of similar design and they’re looking sweet too.
