Lucy Letby- miscarriage of justice? Therapy notes or a confession?

An article has been published about the notes that Letby wrote saying things such as “I did it” and “I am evil”. Was this a confession or simply things that she was encouraged to write following therapy?

    The more I read about this case, the more I start to think that her defence team didn't do very well... 😮

    Inquiry terms are based on the assumption that the woman was guilty... Oooops 😮 I’ve seen another similar chart, produced by way of illustration, that shows it could of been done by at least 2 other members of staff - so much for that as “evidence”!

    None of us know whether she is really innocent or guilty but I can’t understand how someone can be convicted of murder when there was zero hard evidence of murders actually taking place. Was there even a case for her to answer to?

    Have always said the evidence was paper thin,I do feel for the parents involved,if she did it she should rot in jail but if she’s innocent ,one hell of a price for her to pay doing your job,and so they have someone to take the blame.She was convicted on hear say and theory of what may have happened. And what could have happened but know one really knows what did happen to them babies ,which may have had nothing to do with what she’s done.Surely their should have been,post-mortem to find cause of death.If nothing came up then how can they convict her with no evidence.Something May have gone wrong before she went on shift that resulted in the deaths on her shift it’s not impossible.

    She now has a new legal team lead by lawyer Mark McDonald. He is capable of getting experts to show up for the defence. It is backed by almost all medical, statistical and forensic experts in the uk and abroad. I think Lucy will at some point be exonerated

    Mike Lynch who drowned on his yacht recently was interested in the case and it's quite likely he would have put serious resources /used contacts in US. American specialists would drive a truck through the holes in the prosecution case in my view. If she is innocent she has absolutely rotten luck.

  • @mikeshears8112
    @mikeshears8112 Před 2 dny

    I am not a therapist. I am not an expert with statistics. What I do know is that while neither the defence nor prosecution can lie in court, they will present evidence so as to support their version of events. I’m feeling that with everything which is appearing in the media, a case is being made for a case review. If she is innocent then this is a howling miscarriage of justice which will affect her for the rest of her life, if she is guilty then the law requires that she is shown to be guilty beyond reasonable doubt, and doubt is what is being cast with these news stories. “Reasonable” doubt? That’s a different question. But we (as a society) need to have faith in our legal system and so there should not be reluctance to review cases where new evidence comes to light.

  • @mikeshears8112
    @mikeshears8112 Před 2 dny

    Ok: instead of thinking about Lucy Letby for a moment let's think about how the law works. Someone is convicted , fires their legal team , retains new team. New team are obliged to explore every avenue which is open to them, that is their role, to do less would be dereliction of duty. Now come to Letby, there is a lot in the media lately which could be taken as grounds for unsafe conviction. But as you say we don't know everything. If there is a (potential) miscarriage of justice then it is 100% right that CCRC are approached to consider evidence. That being said let's take a moment to consider the effect this will have on families whose babies are dead or were injured. It will undoubtedly represent further emotional turmoil for them

    The problem is, as the recent documentary stated, no medical experts want to risk their careers in being a witness on her defence. Even if they think she deserves a better rationale. I always felt the trial was unsafe and was shocked she was convicted. That doesn't mean I think she's innocent but feel she deserves a fair trial.

    Total Stitch-up, definitely a miscarriage of justice - especially when you also consider they want £100,000 for the entire case transcripts. Maybe they dont want or like people asking too many questions, so set the price high, thinking nobody will pay it and therefore no questions will be asked. I just hope that now she has changed her defence team the truth will come out and she will be released.

    If these notes were jotted down after her first arrest, where the police questioned her.they obviously would have drummed it into her that she was guilty and had killed those babys. 2:44 So obviously she thinks now she did so she's putting down on note what she is thinking. I find it very hard to think that she is even capable of doing this.

    I've had reservations from the beginning of the reporting. The notes have always seemed to me the writing of someone under extreme stress. I also thought the prosecution was simplifying the care and treatment of neonates and making it sound like these were healthy babies who weren't expected to die. In reality these babies were in a neonatal unit because they were extremely vulnerable and needed specialist intervention to keep them alive In a unit working under so much pressure the babies lives would have been especially at risk I hope the evidence is reviewed soon.

    We are turning into Americans! We don't care about truth as long as we can pin the blame on someone Due process does not matter to people who have already made up their mind I've heard David Davis, read Private Eye and watched the TV prog. I do not now if she is innocent- if she is guilty let her rot in prison- I am convinced from what I've heard and read that this conviction should be reviewed. I do wonder why did she do it? ; if she did, Many years ago I was sacked from my job on the basis of what a colleague and, friend, heard me say on the phone It was accurate but nobody new or cared about the other side of the call. Totally different view of situation

    Psychologists and criminologists didn't take those post-it notes seriously right from the off ... The worrying thing is that lawyers didn't understand what should have been obvious, as it's so well documented that people write their feelings down when under stress. Are there any examples of serial killers writing 'confession' notes like this ?

  • @trevorchap21
    @trevorchap21 Před 4 dny

    A 'confession' note that says "I haven't done anything wrong" must be unique. The words you quote are part of a longer sentence which makes it clear that this is what doctors and police were accusing her of doing and being.The Prosecution did not make a great deal of the note and why the 'defence' did not have it deciphered is baffling like many of their other decisions.Lucy Letby has always maintained her innocence and increasing numbers of people now believe that she is.With regard to the second trial the Instruction given by judge Goss to the jury is there for everyone to see and draw their own conclusions and many people have.The position remains the same as it has always been -there is not a single piece of evidence that proves she harmed any babies but there is evidence that the neonatal unit was in chaos, was not being run in a safe manner, and had been infected by a bacterium lethal to babies.

  • @DepakoteMeister
    @DepakoteMeister Před 4 dny

    Regardless of her innocence or guilt, the poor quality and/or misrepresentative evidence, together with the suspiciously weak defence, screams miscarriage of justice loud enough for a deaf person to hear.

  • @paulf3946
    @paulf3946 Před 4 dny

    It’s worrying that all this has come to light after an eight-month trial. They had plenty of time to gather evidence, so it’s surprising these issues are only being revealed now. Moreover, anyone writing those words is clearly struggling, and there’s no telling what they might do.

  • @TLIO-kc1vz
    @TLIO-kc1vz Před 4 dny

    Very true. The Knox/ Solecito conviction was a scandal - Guede’s DNA all over the room where Meredith Kercher had been murdered but not scrap of Knox’s or Solecito’s DNA there. They should have been removed from the list of suspects the moment that was known. But, as with the Letby case, plod ignored anything which might disprove their dramatic, eye-catching conclusion that a young woman committed murder, for reasons that were entirely unclear but er . . . probably had something to do with sex. It would be hilarious if it weren’t so awful for the innocent victims of these farragoes.

    I've had questions about this for a while in paticular about the other baby deaths in that time period that she wasn't on shift. I also wondered why thres indefinite reporting restrictions on these victims and doctors involved in the case. Correct me if im wrong but isn't this the first time in legal history this has happened? Could there be a miscarriage of justice here? It wouldn't surprise me at all if there is.

    I might be wrong but I think for some reason Lucy doesn't seem to be fighting for this she's quiet when really she needs to put more effort in and realise what is at stake and take this weak case by the scruff of the neck and start fighting her corner and she needs to sack her present team and get some more positive energy around this. I don't think she done it but if she trys and fails again maybe she did do it.. but a lot more information needs to come out on both sides almost like starting over.. if she gets another appeal.

    Former cabinet minister David Davis recently presented this argument in parliament. He has scrutinised the evidence and now believes she is probably innocent. It's interesting to know what the next move will be. If the facts were manipulated unfairly by the prosecution, then concerns need to be raised.

    If Dr.Shipman had been working at the hospital I doubt he would have killed the first patient he treated after coming back from a holiday in Ibiza, any idiot would know the radar would be straight on them. Yet we are supposed to believe that Letby goes away on holiday comes back and kills the first baby she treats. She struggles to get her first home and then jeopardizes it all by killing her charges... It seems a bit ridiculous. Was there ever any psychiatric assessment of Letby, she certainly went through it with 30-40 hours of police interrogation, a lot of people would have cracked after that and no wonder she was writing all those post-it notes she was clearly distressed and under pressure and it have been easier for her to plead guilty and mitigating circumstances (breakdown, childhood incident etc) and get a lighter sentence..but why should she if she is innocent?

  • @campclark
    @campclark Před 5 dny

    A conspiracy theory to say the least but she’s guilty all day long

  • @wba1charlesbeadle790

    So many factors point to her innocence. The lengthy period over 2 years from initial arrest to charges pressed indicates likely confirmation bias. The consultants failed to highlight their concerns quickly. The one expert witness had a vested interest in securing her conviction, plus his hypotheses regarding the babies deaths came after post mortems declaring natural causes. Cheshire police have found nothing since her conviction to suggest anything further suspicious despite their avowed intention to investigate Lucy’s previous career. Witnesses for the defence within the hospital were intimidated from taking any stand in the witness box. Expert Statistician Professor Richard Gill was warned by Cheshire Police not to publish his findings until after the trial. Now doubts are resurfacing quickly, clocking in data , infection on the ward (plumber testimony, spikes in deaths), manipulated statistics, the unit downgraded, no evidence of any harm from Lucy at all. It seems like with the post office doubts are being fed in to soften the blow to the CPS , hospitals, police etc when she is declared innocent. It is horrible what has happened here

  • @christopherlogan9315

    Hi Hannah, personally I believe this is the biggest miscarriage of justice this country is ever likely to see and I think it's only a matter of time before Lucy walks free with her head held high. She has nothing at all to be ashamed of, all she ever did was her best and is being used as a scapegoat to cover the arses of the suits and the skirts who threw under the bus to save their own skin.
