@@DonAmaTV Is 1989 Phantom Regiment one of the best drum corps performances of all time? Absolutely! Can it compete today? Well.....yes and no. Drum Corps International, or DCI, has changed its judging system so much, especially for the Visual and Colorguard captions. Phantom Regiment's 1989 Finals performance placed 2nd in the top 12, losing only to Santa Clara Vanguard from Santa Clara, California, USA (and I'm very unhappy about that, but that is a story for another day...). If they were to compete today, they would probably place 14th or so. They would score really well for Brass General Effect, Brass Execution, Percussion General Effect, Percussion Execution, Colorguard Execution, and Visual Execution. However, they would get CRUCIFIED by the Visual General Effect and Colorguard General Effect judges.

1975 kilts is just ok video is blurred . not that really good.

Phantom is quite good, seen the southeastern championship. but the audience is telling they are underrated. but for me they are good enough.

Television camera technology has improved by leaps and bounds since the 1970s, and watching drum corps from the 70s demonstrates how far camera technology has come. VCRs for the home were far too expensive at the time, so the TV station that broadcasted the 1975 DCI World Championships also recorded the show onto a video-tape format called "Umatic." In the mid-1980s, VHS and Betamax VCRs were becoming less expensive for consumers to buy, so the TV studio copied their 1975 DCI Championships Umatic tape onto multiple VHS tapes. Unfortunately, all of this copying made the Umatic tape wear out and lose detail, which is why the video looks so blurry.

To be honest, Philippines or I think the rest of the world, looks up to the United States up to thesr times in almost all aspect of life. Having said this, us dlc isn't an exception and so our local band here even named and clothes themselves as what they see from there and I think there is nothing wrong about it but an expression of admiration and emulation to be an excellent band as well in a positive way.

@@DonAmaTV These days, the closest thing we have to Drum and Lyre Corps are Indoor Drumlines, sometimes known as Indoor Percussion. First, DLCs have marching mallet percussion, which Indoor Drumlines sadly do not have. Second, DLCs thankfully do not have synthesizers, which Indoor Drumlines have had since 1997 (ish), drum and BUGLE corps (NOT drum and LYRE corps) have had since 2009, and high school marching bands have had since 2009. I can't stand the sound of synthesizers!

@@DonAmaTVThree more things: 1. DLC uniforms look a lot better than Drum and Bugle Corps uniforms from 2017-present. Some high school marching bands are copying modern drum and bugle corps uniforms, and I am not happy about that! 2. In terms of difficulty, the vast majority of high school marching bands in the USA are very similar to high school DLCs in the Philippines. It's only Drum and Bugle Corps in the USA and a few high school marching bands that do out-of-this-world shows. 3. It doesn't matter how difficult your show is. All you have to do is march well, play well, and (if you're in the colorguard) spin well. I can and do say that Drum and Lyre Corps of the Philippines do that and then some!

usually, it is included to the OPEN CLASS CATEGORY but high school or elementary category can also include it. it depends on the school to include or not. this competition is a preliminary to the international competition to be held also here in the Philippines, usually from South East Asian Countries.
