Simpler times. I lived in Oak Harbor about 10 years ago. The island is beautiful. Never seen another Datsun in my time there.
I spent my youth living there, owned a couple Datsuns during that time. Was a lot longer than 10 years ago though. :)

@@i2edeye okay i got the red wire (pin 46) figured out.. For the orange wire for start signal where does that go on the starter??

I know this is a long shot but would anybody be willing to sell me one of those can am wiring boxes, the guy stopped making them and he said he doesn’t know if or when he’ll start making them again
Dastin Motorsports had a used one for sale. It is easy enough to wire up to 3 relays, the can/am box just packages them nicely.
Nice and finally you made it, thanks 🙏
Thanks for the request :)

@i2edeye so no leaks? Because from what I've read the plastic ones usually end up leaking
@@maurobeltran3072 No leaks, just about to hit 10,000 miles
I 1996 hardbody D21 truck that is stock. So after I watch this, if I'm understanding you. I can install a transmission from a 240, 260, 280 Z car? I love my truck and I'm custom building it, but I would love to better highway gears for better MPG, because it's not going to be a work truck anymore......just a show and cruise.
Yes you can, but I would recommend a different rear end gear to get that result. I am not sure if the 96 use the H190 still but if it does you have a large range of gearing options. If it is the newer rear you will have even more options.
Thank you for this video very informative. Maybe you could help me because when I ground my test light it illuminates no matter what, I thought at first I just had the dizzy line up by coincidence but then I twisted it and the light just remained on?
Sounds like the circuit is grounded in the distributor. I have had the wire touching the body of the distributor causing this. The isolator where it passes into the dizzy could be broken or the connector at the points could be backwards and touching the points body.
I appreciate you posting this video, it was beyond help trying to identify one of them that I had no clue what was it for or where it goes
Glad to help :)
What rims are those? I have a similar jeep and was looking to get new wheels and tires and those look pretty slick
They are an early version of the Appliance Vector also called a Turbine or Hurricane from other manufacturers.
I refinish them in another video.
That ecm wiring spread sheet was so beyond useful, thanks a ton for the info, made wiring the swap into a subi GL a breeze. Downloaded this video for reference later lol
Glad to help. Love some subi gl :)
Did it fit directly in?
Yep. Went right in and locked.
I hear that with Solberg Air Intakes, the compressor sounds more quiet and fills up faster.
I will have to look into those.
So I’m going thru the same trouble… I got a used assembly from a wreck 2015 q50 and I swap it today, after the swap it worked perfect! Let the car sit for an hour and it was not rolling up again.. took it for a spin and when I got back home it worked again..
It works only when it wants to.. it’s annoying
@@panchopann6474 that is a bummer that it is still being a pain. Intermittent issues are hard to trouble shoot, but I would start at the connectors at the switch and motor.

I don't mind buying Chinese made stuff but I will never have anything with the word California on it.
I don't blame you lol
I had a bent D44 housing that was causing me to lose axle seals constantly so I got their removal and install down to a science. First thing is to cut off the bearing cage and get it and the rollers out of the way. The locking ring is soft metal so I drill it with 1/4" and then 3/8" the drill bit wont hurt the axle so it's a no brainer. Once its drilled you just smack it off with a cold chisel. The bearing race gets cut 90% with the grinder and use the cold chisel to break it at the cut line. I put them back together as shown but I'll warn that some axles have a step above where the seal rides that you can slide the seal on trying to get it out of your way and it ends up ruining the seal. Ask me how I know.
Another technique to keep in my back pocket. I think my axle is straight so hopefully I won't be back in there for a while.
Any suggestions on year and make of begicle to use for the donor Alt. Thanks and great vid!
The easiest would be from a later year Datsun with an L series that has an internally regulated alternator. 78 thru 80 620, 510 or Z.
Nice video
Thank you
63A is like the defacto/ubiquitous 510 trans swap for l series. Rebuilt the one in my wagon, it was a pain in the ass compared to the 71/long tail style truck/z car trans ive done or helped rebuild. The long tails are better trans as well with more ratio options from what i recall, but the 63a is the same length as stock 510 so you dont have to cut up your tunnel or shorten your driveshaft, and way better to have overdrive and a better shifter design than the stock 510 monkey motion trans. Assume this info applies to 521s as well. Nice to know about the bellhousing swap trick. And for the bronze bushings, you can get a GM door hinge rebuild kit and its a straight swap for the plastic ones (kit #38377)
Good to know the 63a is a pain compared to 71, I will be going through this one. Good tip for new plastic bushings thanks.,
@@i2edeye good luck! wasnt impossible as DIY, the basics are the same as the other nissan transmissions if youve done those, I just remember the rebuild kit i had being kind of inadequate. It was just generally more difficult to press stuff in and out and we had to get creative with the press. vs the 71s which are very DIY friendly
@@user-rd7gf6jg5r Good things to know ahead of time. Thanks
Great stuff! I just reinstalled my 1970 521 L16 4 speed trans. I have never seen this style before, it has an oil plan, it has the wierd trans mount. Shifter is really different than all these. Its bolted on from bottom of chrome stick. Its totally different than any other L series. Also the starter holes are through bolts, no threads! I also noticed the L/z/vg/ka all use the same input shaft. So same clutch tool from 1970-2004 trucks/pathfinders I have done. This input is also the same as 4cy transfer case inputs. v6 inputs are larger on tcase. I am still trying to decide what engine and manual trans to upgrade to in the 521. Leaning towards a ka with 5speed. Maybe a qr25de.
Thanks. I will be pulling one of those 4 speeds to put that dogleg in my 68 521. I think the Z/KA have the holes like that, car trans thru hole, truck threaded. Will have to double check. Good info on the tcase. Qr25de could be a good swap if you an get one from a truck.
the outro is the best thing
Thanks for watching :)
Great video! Can you PLEASE please quickly post the part number information for the rebuild kit you bought??
