What's up everyone! Thanks for checking out the channel. I am an avid fisherman in the Southeast Texas area who primarily targets large bull redfish. My main goal is to catch the state record redfish in Texas.
With that being said, stick around and hangout with me as I go on adventures and document my search for the Texas state record redfish!

It was a beautiful day, mullet was running, and sea monsters were below. Both JB and I hooked into our personal best redfish in this video. We caught several bull reds over 40 inches. Amazing you caught those fish with that rig. But you're in a boat following it. So that works. If you used larger rigs with some good drags and backbone, you would have not tired these out so much since you were releasing them. ALSO, you could have kept them and sold them to us Shark Fisherman. Those are damn good baits. Either way some very nice catches sir, and thanks for the Vid.
True, we were both fightin for our lives haha. And we've been wanting to get out on the beach with some big baits to hook into some mondo sharks!

This pier is on the Texas-Louisiana border
Caught about a 5 ft blacktip off Matagorda about 2 weeks ago. It was fighting wierd and when we got the thing in it was exhausted. Once we realized it wasn't doing to good we decided to bag it. As we were dispatching the shark for the cooler we realized she had 4 baby blacktips inside ready for the Gulf. We quickly got the babies removed and released them all very alive into the surf. Felt good to know that we bagged 1 shark to immediately release 4 new sharks. That's the cycle of fishing. There is no shortage of blacktips on the Texas coast that's for sure. I've been 10 miles out and seen pods of thousands thrashing at the surface on bait. If you went into the water for some reason that day it would have been game over.
Man, how cool to release baby sharks like that. Yes, the gulf tends to be stacked with black tips. Thanks for sharing!

and have been wondering about shark fishing with a 7ft medheavy…. looks like it works just fine for smaller ones. Yall use wire leaders? Also dang the water looked awesome.
Yes, shark fishing on medheavy is very doable, just depends on the size of the fish you are targeting! Wire leaders help to not break off since the Sharks have teeth and can aide to handle larger fish on lighter tackle but in this video, we weren't using wire leaders.

If the ray sticks to the bottom and you pluck the line like it’s a guitar he will come up off the bottom it may take a few times but it works

Having a float big enough to keep your bait off the bottom will really help eliminate rays and cats..

Man I thought for sure your fishing rod was going to snap in half lol That video was very entertaining. How deep was the water where you were fishing? Can you share some information regarding the line weight and rig setup you were using. Were you just fishing off the bottom by letting the bait sit or did you reel in the bait slowly? Thanks for any insight you can provide and look forward to your next video
Thanks for checking us out! I’ll make sure to start including details like this in our videos but water was about 30’ deep we were fishing in a ship channel! We fished off the bottom with a Carolina rig. Depending on how bad the current is we’ll use a 2oz weight.
A tip for the next time you hook a stingray and they bottom out pluck your line like a guitar string. Needless to say they don't like it and will usually take off .
