Hours of pointless railway and transport ASMR for the masses.
Welcome to my travel / nerd channel! You will mostly find videos from my journeys. For some reason, these seem to involve lots of train travel! I particularly enjoy going to Iceland, Norway, France and Italy. I am a keen (perhaps obsessive!) railway modeller. I'm interested in European trains generally, but especially Italy, Norway, France and Germany. I trawl CZcams looking for unusual or interesting train compositions and then create them in HO. I video them as a reference, so I can remember the compositions when I want to run them again. I hope this channel is useful.

IMPROVED VERSION!: Poppy- 1s + 0s: only ever live performance of song at Manchester Academy 14/02/24
The lucky audience at Manchester Academy got the first (and so far only) live performances of this song and Flicker. We also got the first performance of V.A.N. with her own band. It was an amazing night.
I've already uploaded a version of this, but since it is one of the few live versions around on CZcams, I have gone back and done an improved version!! Well, it was quite hard to edit because we were all swaying along to it.

This song is incredibly unusual and inventive- a slow 7 beats in the bar (7/4), but with the odd random 7/8 thrown into the intro just to make sure everyone is off guard. Live, the bass seemed harder and more distorted, whilst the vocals seemed were dreamier than the recording, like post dreampop or shoegaze written to the rules of Radiohead. The interludes are pretty psychedelic! Really impressive that it seemed so chilled out in a live performance, and also to hear Poppy let rip with her clean vocals (it almost seems folksy in places). Nice to hear the crowd sing along, and to a random hand pop into view conducting in 7!! There is a group "oh wow" when the songs starts and a "thank you" from Poppy at the end, so I think she appreciated the love this song got!
Also, the seven is divided 3 and 4, as you can see by Poppy's bobbing at the end! We have it from the top!
Shame this was the only time she brought it out to play, but I was glad to be there!

I took this video in the space of one hour at Reading station on the Great Western Mainline. There had been three freight trains break down during the day on the network and everything was in chaos and bunched up. Hence why the station was so insanely busy. Here is a little festival of the Trenitalia XMPR livery. Through the late 70s, 80s and 90s, FS was famous for having almost every item of rolling stock painted in a different colour scheme. I bought a Rivarossi HR2967 E655 some time ago with a view to adjusting it to become one of the final E656 400 series locos used in Sicily. I am partway there- the loco is now numbered E656.427 (I made transfers for the loco numbers and plates) and the FS Cargo logos are painted out. I found some square buffers to replace the round ones. Hi. Just wondered if you removed the molding line from below the windows on the Mk2s - if so, did you have any difficulties? I have some and will be stripping them for repainting soon. British HO is the future! 👍
@andrewdonaldson6225 My aim with these is to try and make the mk2s like they would have done if Lima had progressed with them, so I leave the moulding on. Also, I want to make longer rakes at speed, so the repaint has to be "quick and dirty". They got blue and grey with no white lining, but I have rounded off the top part of the white. The Mk2s look awful with the original incorrect blue and grey, but if you repaint with accurate colours, fit smaller wheels and chop the massive couplings off, they suddenly look great. If you have the nerve to paint Network South East colours, the HO mk2s look absolutely fantastic. As far as the Mk1s are concerns, you can make the maroon coaches look more BR by painting out the LMS. The Southern green coaches are in the wrong shade of green and it is also possible to do a blue and grey "quick and dirty" repaint. I do not change the height of the mk1s, as once you have smaller wheels installed, they match the height of Fleischmann Blulleid coaches- if you lower them, they don't. What we have in HO is perfect for the London Waterloo to Exeter (via Salisbury) line, and you can also do a nice class 33 interegional (Portsmouth to Cardiff). Around the mid 60s, the rolling stock on the Exeter line was a mixture of Bullied coaches with MK1s in maroon, green and blue/grey. The fact that there are no full 2nd class Lima mk1s does not matter, as you can use Fleischmann Bullied coaches, or just use Southern style rakes (brake coach, composite, buffet, composite, brake, or brake, composite, brake). Thank you for the suggestions. I have a number of Mk2s destined to be repainted into WCRC Maroon to go with the Trix Scottie. I'll change the wheels and fit Kadees and I'm still thinking about the mold line. I might have a go at one and see how difficult it is. At some point I will try and pick up a Mk1 and see if I can match the height to the Mk2s.
@@andrewdonaldson6225 I think it would be quite hard to trim the mould line without damaging the window surrounds. I tried it once with an 00 coach and it did not end well! That said, the mould will be more obvious on all over maroon. The Mk1s ride at the same height as the Mk2s out of the box (even though they are too high), so I opted to leave them. If you leave them, they will also match the ride height of Fleischmann Bullieds. Final comment on the couplings- I just chopped off the original couplings and glued on Euro hoops with the shortest distance possible between the coaches. I call it "close enough" coupling. It looks fairly good, and can be achieved in about 5mins. You are probably getting an idea of the level of my modelling skills. However, I did make Network Southeast transfers for my Mk2 rake!

What Brand and Number does your regular TGV Duplex have) (Number as in for example Lima L149771 or Jouef HJ2013)
It's a complete rag-tag. It was put together from Jouef display and engineering samples when Hornby first acquired Jouef. The power car has a Lima centre drive mechanism with bulbs- the dummy has the first Jouef brand refresh with LEDs. Bodies are probably Jouef. Some cars came unpainted, some branded Lima, some Jouef. However, I think they are samples for the 2007 HJ2013 release you mention.

The 2 car class 150236 is now in store since Thursday 21st March 2024 and hasn’t been in traffic on the railways 🚃 🚆 since then. This is perhaps 🤔 because the 36 x 2 car class 150/2 are having a slight run 🏃♀️ down to around 33 being used and could they be replaced by the 2 and 3 car class 197s at present 💝. At present 💝, there are 36 x 2 car class 150/2 are currently used for TFW - Transport For Wales 🏴 are 150208/213/217/227/229-231/235-237/240-242/245/250-260/262/264/267/278-285 and are all wearing its current TFW - Transport For Wales 🏴 livery apart class 150279 is still left wearing its second ATW - Arriva Trains 🚆 Wales 🏴 livery. The E652 wasn't running very well- kept slowing down on the straights and no amount of cleaning and adjusting would fix it. It ran perfectly until I got a video camera out, of course!

Yup- it is tilting its cap at the Prodigy- but then makes it wonky by alternating bars of 4/4 and 7/8- and also takes a skidding left turn into Gwen Stefani territory. It's a classic!

nice im be using a mixed rakes of mk4s 2 in east coast, TFw black and tfw white plus intercity swallow br tso mk4s i have all but the TSOE i have are pre owned and the class 67 is also new 67029 royal diamond will haul them for me, for reference idk how much the dvt and class 91 cost me with two tso mk4s but the east coast mk4s cost me £22 from hattons when they were still active and a tsoe for £40 from gaugemaster ebay uk plus £64 for a railroad plus class 67 in silver db "royal diamond" 67029
That is quite nice rolling stock (I don't know much about trains other than I like the GWR and the latest TFW trains, I also remember growing up with arriva trains Wales back in the day)

This journey was made on a gloriously sunny October evening in a four coach (2x 2car) class 197 consist. These trains are getting a bad press at the moment, but actually they are kind of like an improved class 170 format, with really nice panoramic windows and decent leg room. Ride quality is very firm, but the only time this problematic was during some fast curves, where there were some quite alarming lateral oscillations. The units have 6 speed ecolife hydromechanical gearboxes, which is unusual and gives them a bit of character- you can hear the gear changes in the recording (sound like a Bristol VRT!), and they cannot coast, so have to use engine breaking or gears. You will also see that they are pretty nippy! Although people are missing the class 175s they replaced, I think the large windows are good, and it is easy to forget the 175s were a complete disaster until more than ten years old! As long as TFW deliver and produce the promised 4 or 5 car consists, I am feeling fairly positive about the new units.

Wow, that’s a great background story to these beautiful trains !!! I’ve been getting slowly into Italian rolling stock from Lima, but am still missing some grey or brown passenger cars. Thanks for sharing.
Here is a helpful hint- keep an eye out for brown or grey Corbelini coaches by Hachette on eBay- they are identical to Lima / Rivarossi, but made of cheaper plastic (you can swap the bogies between Riva and Hachette even). I think it must be in a neutral section, where trains lower their pantographs and coast.

The last paragraph of the description needs correction however ..... `can be conversated to 25Kh DC (they have spaces for pantographs)' I think you mean `converted to 25 kV AC' . Sorry not possible to Private Message you to advise corrections. Also in the Index Points why is END OF 100MPH SECTION struck through when Worting Junction is indeed the end of the first 100 mph running section until at Basingstoke 100 mph running possiblity is resumed. Suggest should be labelled `END OF FIRST 100MPH SECTION'.
