I guess that one pin wasn't made well enough.

Where I worked, we got a new set of these very pins. They started delaminating within a couple of weeks and started gumming up things on the machines! They didn't sound right either so I guess they can't find the same grade of materials they used to. The company said that they would replace them but, I left in October, 2022 and they hadn't done it by then. The company sold all 4 of their alleys in December. 6.12 million dollars!

Yes it is. I worked in a bowling alley and we got a delivery of pins direct from AMF. They came with a promotional video (a VHS tape to be exact so that shows how long ago it was!) and this was the exact method they used.

@@user-rq5uy4ye5f It's not that easy, dude. You have to shape it a certain way in order for it to be equivalent to the normal tune of regulation ten pins. Then, it has to be coated with plastic/resin with it's brand name and approved mark.

@@user-rq5uy4ye5f All pins must be created the same way they must all be 15 inches tall, must have the same shape and radius, must be 3 lbs. 6 oz. and are required to be made of hard maple. The bowling pin must then be sent to the USBC to be checked and certified that it is within the standard regulations. If it is in regulation is given a USBC approved stamp but if there are any imperfections in the pen does not meet standards do USBC will not approve it for use. Bowling pins are actually made by carving maple into the standard shape and then holes are added to accommodate the weight and moisture expansion. The pin is then coated in a plastic coating which standard coating is white but for certain styles such as roulette colored pins are be made. The pin then has a nylon ring pushed into the base to prevent the bottom from chipping away and allows the pin to last longer. It is then given its stripes or if it’s a Brunswick it can have a crown, then stamped with the manufactures logo for example Qubica Amf, Brunswick, Winsome etc. everything must be done correctly in order for the pins to be identical to each other. It is much more of a process and cutting a piece of wood to shape and painting it does not make it a bowling pin at least not a quality certified bowling pin. If you just cut wood to the shape and then paint it that pin would not last more than probably a year and a half and would be terrible pins to use and no bowling alley would ever purchased those. The carved and painted pin has not been manufactured since the early 1950s. Plastic coating became standard and locking bases also became standard in the early 50s as it was proven to strengthen pins. You can find some vintage pins that are simply pieces of wood carved and painted but those kind of pins would not be certified today.

StrikDev ROBLOX USA is the cheap brands as you just saw made from bits of wood glued together. Quality pins are made from solid wood.
