Its mimicry is actually really smart. Grass is weak to poison, Flying, Fire, Bug, Ice. It resists water, Ground, Electric, and itself. Rock is resistant to fire bug and flying and weak to water ground and grass. So if you treat the clearly a tree as a grass type statistically you’re likely to choose a not very effective move. This to this day trips up unspoiled players

I’ve been an octo long ever since splatoon 2, I felt like I had to really earn being an octoling and even after that sense of achievement is gone in splatoon 3 I became accustomed to their general look and story. I still use inklings from time to time (mainly when I want to match my irl hair) but I still mainly stick to octolings

I’ve got two main reasons for choosing octoling. The first is that Mario and Luigi metaphor you mentioned. The other is actually one of the reasons you said people gave for choosing inkling: the less human appearance. We’re always staring at the back of our respective character’s head, so the suction cups being on the outside of the hair are what give off more of that inhuman vibe to me.

Sudowoodos really are my favorite Pokémon. I get the appeals of the Legendaries and the cuter ones but, as someone who doesn’t have too much hands-on experience with the franchise, the notion of these lanky guys just trying their best to be trees and doing so by posing half the time and fleeing when they fail is something I cherish

The sudowudo were once lining up for some snacks… but then a trained with cut came along…

Fun fact: Hisui's Pokédex portrait depicts both of its arms as being down. Every other sprite or dex entry shows it with at least one of its arms up by default

I’ve played as an Octoling for a while. I think I started as an inkling. Splatoon 3 is actually the only Splatoon game I’ve played so far but now that I know more about some of the lore. Octolings quickly became my favorite. Even my favorite character (Marina) is an Octoling.

Absolutely loved this video. I was switching between inkling and octoling a lot early on but eventually I settled in with an Inkling. I think they look a little more gremlin mode than octolings and it just vibes with me more.

I personally like the octoling more because of the lore and the fact that the dreadlocks and the afro are black hairstyles. Makes me feel good to have my hair in a game lol.
