This performance was assisted at the piano by the composer himself and is only the second interpretation of the piece after its world premiere.

I have a baritone voice (NOT PROFESSIONAL) and I have been at the lowest point possible and found great comfort in bellowing this impassioned plea to God. The sheer emotion and desperation of humanity in their valley of the shadow of death. God bless you Mark.

Impassioned, yes, and, clearly, deeply felt. However, some quieter tonal injection would have been welcome here and there but I didn't get any...
Gorgeous, huge voice. A lot of yams in this performance though. A lot of singers are guilty of this habit.
You could consider it a bad habit, or you could consider it what naturally happens when a fully resonant voice tracks vowels without regard for pedantic choir rules.
