It’s always best to rub your products with both hands before applying on the hair or scalp. You’d get better results with that. Some people call it emulsifying the product although that’s not really what it is😅

Perhaps, you could do a protein treatment before your next braids. I recommend Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor as a protein treatment. Also communicating with your stylist about tension is key. The last cornrows that I did at a salon caused the hair around my edges to break because it was too tight.

Here are some things I learned from this experience and tips I’ll be using for my next braids: 1. Communicate with your stylist! Let them know you're concerned about tension and ensure the braids feel comfortable, not tight. 2. Aim for 6 weeks as a maximum wear time, especially for thicker hair textures. 3. Gently cleanse your scalp with a spray bottle and light massaging in between washes while wearing braids. I didn’t do this 🤧 4. Be patient and take your time detangling your hair when taking the braids down. 5. If your hair feels dry or brittle before braiding, focus on deep conditioning or protein treatments to strengthen it beforehand. I should have done a protein treatment before installing the braids.
