I moved here three years ago new toilets in all bathrooms and still get rings not an old toilet...what a waste of time. Its from hard water. by a water softener.

To keep scale from attaching, use Wet & Forget Shower Cleaner. I descales the shower, around sinks, the toilet and also cleans your jewelry! It has a pleasant scent and isn't toxic. You can touch it. Lemon juice also works to descale. I use it around faucets.

PEOPLE, ceramic, glass are in fact porous. what you see "the ring" is caused by the lubrications used by the water companies to keep seals and pumps going. If you look in the tank area you will see the very same discoloration or buildup. Yes you can clean it, but will inevitably return. want to NOT see the stain? clean your bowl 2-3 times a week! Eventually it will show over the years as the stains will build up in the pours of the ceramic. Just keep it clean and it wont be a problem. My toilet is 50+ years old and you won't see a stain (mom was a neurotic cleaner). If you have hard or well water clean more often! Its really that simple so don't kill yourself over it.

Great video! I replaced my toilet and even with a brand new toilet I have the black ring every 2 weeks. So it's definitely not that the surface is etched.

Never use a pumice stone on porcelain, it will scratch and ruin it.

The bottom line is you just have to keep scrubbing and scrubbing or change your toilet. Truly no solution at all. Just change your toilet. You got 63 likes and 5.7m views to say nothing works just keep scrubbing..what a good salesman you are!!!!

You didn’t try a solution of one cup baking soda, one cup vinegar, half the cup of salt. It does excellent job. May not take staying up first time, but if you let it sit, it gets less and less. Also try putting two or three aluminum balls in the toilet tank.

Zep works for me mold stain

The only way to prevent a ring is to run your toilet brush around the bowl EVERY day. Never, NEVER use a pumice stone or you WILL SCRATCH the bowl. If you have toilets that don’t get used everyday, they still need brushed or the minerals in the water will create a build up.. I sometimes us CLR or ZEP bowl cleaner. I pour a bucket of water in the bowl so it flushes without refilling. After the bowl dries, I soak bounty towels in CLR, fold them longways and lay them around the bowl on the ring.. same thing with ZEP..I re-moisten them a few times over the course of a few hours.. remove them and then scrub with a green pad.. I ruined a Kohler bowl with pumice years ago..I don’t even keep pumice in the house.. Good luck. Thanks for the honest video.

Um…why didn’t you open the tank and clean that? Or consider the water source? I have worse rings and the root cause is well water with heavy minerals and probably bacteria, and the tank in back gets affected first.

I like to use a sand blaster or dynamite.
