I am a recently retired paramedic. I dated a travelling nurse that would take out of town assignments and waste so much of her salary on hotel rooms. Her hospital had a parking garage that was perfectly cool pretty much year round. She just couldnt seem to bring herself to sleep in her roomy SUV. I spent the last 10 years of my career working offshore, at remote locations or during covid I would work weeks at a time at heliports and shipyards doing covid testing. I saved so much money sleeping in my minivan and using my planet fitness membership to always have free wifi and a place to shower and workout. I saved that money for 5 years and was able to retire early in Thailand.

The air drag created by the turbine will negate and energy generated. You will lose that engine in extra gas you use to move the vehicle. You are better off to charge your batteries off the alternator when you drive. Also the turbine will attract a ton of attention that you don't want when living in your SUV.

That was very cool and it worked, at least at slower speeds. I built two wind turbines using two 200 amp 12 volt truck alternators, I use a kit from MIssouri Wind Turbines to put all the components together and mounted each one on a 20 foot pole. Our off-grid property sits on an 800 acre spring feed private lake and always has a nice breeze blowing on it.With about a 15 mph wind both units were recording about 3800 watts combined which is more then enough to keep our battery banks topped off. This is just a back up system, we have 6000 watts of solar on the property which more than supplies our power needs, We also have to gas generators as backups. As I'm typing this, we just took delivery on two Blueetti AC 240 power stations, running these in parallel should give us all the power we need.

You realize that is not free electricity if you use it while driving. You will use extra gasoline to drive the turbine. You need to secure that better. The wind resistance which makes that spin and consumes gasoline puts enormous pressure on your supports. If that falls off when driving it can cause serious injury and damage.

Generating electricity from the wind when driving your car actually means that you use more gas. Interesting project, but unfortunately not better than using the car's generator.

The place where you parked is an excellent spot to get car/motorcycle pictures with the cityscape in the background. That's why there's trash up there. And the security knows people go up there, "trespassing" so they are usually pretty quick to catch you up there. Don't ask how i know... lol. I am glad that the guy you ran into was friendly because that is generally true of most coloradans

It's a cool experiment but you're probably spending more in fuel driving around than you would just getting a diesel generator to directly power the batteries. Still made a good watch though, congrats to sis :)
