    I just inherited my Grandfathers 550 a few hours ago. Shot and owned many other firearms before but this one is special cause he’s 87 and likely doesn’t have too many years left on earth. I’ll cherish this specific firearm until I die or pass it down to one of my kids.

    Boy sure like all the comments on the powders, I shot the Superformance Varmint 50gr V-Max and got 3970 FPS average. These are very accurate , shot a .50 group @ 300 yds, and so hot, wish I could find what powder they are using. One bench shooter told me to try AR Comp, XBR or CFE to get the feet per second, the one thing I found is in my 24" barrel Bergara the O-Give is .111 off the lands, that's one huge jump. Need to get some loaded and work on seating depth to see if shorter seating will work. Great info and wish I could know what you found out. 👍👍👍👍

    Been shooting the Hornady Superformance Varmint Express 50 gr at 300yd, had a group at .40" @ 300 yds. this stuff is incredible and FPS is 3970, Sure wish I knew what powder they are using. Shooting a Bergara B-14 with 24" barrel, haven't checked the distance off the lands yet but plan on trying to copy their loads as in their boxes . Great info you have .👍👍

    Btw I saw a post by backfire and Ron spomer talking about how shooting copper bullets and switching to a lead or even a lead with an alloy (even if the alloy is mostly copper) can throw off the accuracy. So you may want to run a cpl patches thru bore especially with a copper fouling removal. I’ve seen accuracy issues just by having too much copper fouling in barrel

    @douglasbattjes3991 24 minutes ago Very interesting video, I'm shooting a 22-250 in a Bergara with 24" heavy barrel, Hornady Superformace Varmint V-Max 50gr ammo, right out of the box , can't check the lands as don't have the gun, it's partners, and he's hunting Chucks, but will soon as I have it with a too. It runs the Avg. FPS is 3970 , and shot under .250 group , at 300 , and trying to find what powder they are using in their ammo. Think they are around 50 off the lands, my COL is 2.346-2.350 an they shoot amazing . I could post a photo of the results. Like to hear others info, and yours was very interesting. These are running so fast and so accurate at distance On the 6-25 magnification. on the scope, it's only one click or a tenth of a mill @300 yds. Your Hornady ammo is only running at 3594 with Varget ? did you do any lab radar on the box factory loads.? 👍👍👍👍

    My 2nd 5-shot group with the ProHunter bullets over Varget went into about a 3/4" group at 100. The first group was decent, but I had a 1st round flyer. I haven't worked up a load yet. That was just the first 10 rounds. The shape of the ProHunter bullet allows you to get the bullet closer to the rifling, while still being magazine-length. Be careful not to jam these bullets into the lands. Flat-base bullets tend to shoot really well at 100 yards, but once you get over 300, you should probably be looking at boattail bullets.

    I have one of the first generation tools and having watched this video, I think I prefer the older model. I do have some of the newer primer tubes with the plastic tips, but prefer using the older tubes with the spring clips. I also modified the priming arm by attaching a coil spring causing the arm so it retracts automatically after depositing the primer onto the priming ram. Now I need to locate a leaf spring to slide under the handle so it will automatically lower the priming ram when I release the handle.

    Got a S&W model 69 44 magnum. I sent the cylinder up to TK. The turnaround was a little over a week. Great work. I have noticed some ammo I cant run with the TK clips. Ammo like Hornady absolutely won't fit. Using Winchester, Remington and most mainstream ammo is no problem. So much better than a speed loader. TK does make a moon clip loader that not only makes loading quicker but easier. Also makes a de mooner for pulling spent brass. Only problem is i blow through ammo at the range to quickly now. LOL 😊

    I load 24.5-24.8 gr of h335 for best accuracy. i found anywhere between 23.5-25.0 is the sweet spot for my different rifles. I think your loads were just too low. Almost below min for hodgdon h335. Hornadys data is so conservative. I know its nearly ten years later but oh well. Thanks for the video!

    Hey, I know this is an eight-year-old video but I just got this for one of my builds and I’m trying to figure out what the little “optional QD swivel” is supposed to do. I put it on because it shows in the photo on the box but there’s doesn’t seem to be any point to it. It’s just a cylinder that sticks out from the side, no holes or anything what am I missing?

    • @thomasjefferson2676
      @thomasjefferson2676 Před 3 měsíci

      Never mind. After looking at it a little closer and using my tiny primitive brain I realize there’s probably something called a quick disconnect sling which pops in there like a button and then pops back out when you want it to. Great video thanks for the info.

    Your last load is almost there. I also have 22-250 and use varget in Rem 700 BDL. My particular rifle likes about .087" jump and my varget loads work better with CCI200 primers . I have worked down to about .450" group and a out 27 fps ES. For a long time, I couldn't do better than about .870" till I went to Varget and a 50grain VMax. Previous H380 goof but Varget better. My rifle is 1:14, skim bedding and free floated. The free foating only helped a little, but i had to go back to the drawing board load development after free float. That's my 22-250 story.

  • @user-se8ds5ev5k
    @user-se8ds5ev5k Před 4 měsíci

    With my handloaded Remington 700bdl in 7mm. Magnum, I am using reduced speed loads. I have chosen the 139 grain interlocks at 3004 fps with a maximum deviation of only 7fps. So I have downloaded it to 280 Remington level. This load will poke all three rounds into a single jagged hole everytime I wait for 15 minutes between shots. I use hodgdon 4831 and Remington 9.5 Magnum primers and haven't had nothing take another step from a dose of it yet. I would not go for elk unless it had 175 grain nosler partition bullets loaded to 2960.

    If anyone here plans on picking up one of these at a local shop, I would take the time to see if it fits on the mount installed on your AK (of course with your local laws and shop rules permitted). I got the UTG U978 Model 47 mount at a local shop for about $35, but unfortunately it did not fit the rail that came on my Krebs Izhmash AK. The quality is otherwise pretty good for the price. If I don't return it, I might look into filing or sanding the inside of the rail where the dovetail would otherwise fit.

    Its funny you mentioned seeing it on "Johnny's reloading video", I also saw it there, and decided to search for it, being that the results from that Universal powder test shoot were extremely accurate. And I also have the mechanical RCBS 502 scale. It's been awesomely always accurate too. Also, for those who reload in a room with a ceiling fan, make sure its Off when using either scales, the numbers will fluctuate. Thanks for the demo.

    I have major concerns with the 6.5 CM after personally watching folks shoot deer then help them track them. I have seen very poor results no matter shot placement with 3 different varieties of ammo. Shoulder shots through lung & heart, high shoulder lung only, neck... Winchester & S&B both in Soft point and Barnes TTSX. I have seen better performance with 243 / 24cal which is a smaller & shorter projectile over the 6.5 / 26cal. I have have a theory that the 6.5's longer projectile that is moving faster has proven to not expand as much as other rounds in the real world. I think the longer projectile is having a harder time to expand than that of a shorter projectile like the smaller Caliber in 243 resulting in smaller entrance & exit holes in 6.5CM than that of the 243. Entrance & exit holes on deer are barely visible with 6.5CM after combing hair back resulting in lack of blood from several SP loads as well as Barnes TTSX. Last year my buddy's son shot a buck through both shoulders, ran for over 200yds & didn't leave a blood trail with Winchester SP. This year shot another buck that ran over 200yds marginal blood lost the deer after loosing blood trail. Shot a doe at 60yds, deer was found 75yds from where it was shot. Back tracked blood trail for only 20yds so deer failed to bleed for first 55yds with Barnes TTSX & projectile did not pass through or exit deer. Another friend shot 2 deer with Browning Hells Canyon & lost both & knows he had good shots no blood. Another hunter at our club shot a buck in the neck with Winchester SP and he said the buck took a few steps before it fell. After inspection the projectile entered neck obviously hit bone & ricochet down deers body to hind quarter. Never have I ever shot or heard of a deer being shot in the neck that it didn't drop immediately.
