I absolutely love Margaret Thatcher, you have to put into perspective the era she was saying all this in...When women today moan about not being equal to men? Try telling THATCHER she wasn't a mans equal, she'd tear your head off! THAT'S the attitude you need as a woman once you are afforded the freedom to take on men. They are not just going to lie down and give over their positions, so you have to fight - as Thatcher did, and it's beyond admirable and inspiring to me as a man... Worth reminding people that modern Grammar schools and the "11 Plus" were instituted by the Conservative government - but were supported by Labour (The Butler Act.) In fact The Conservatives were out of power about 6 months after the Butler Act went through, so the actions to implement it were almost all done by Labour in Clement Atlee's governments of 1945 and 1950. In this period, Labour increased funding for Grammar schools, increased the number of pupils to go to them and formalised the 11 Plus itself Under Labour from 1945 the number of Grammar Schools more than doubled. Then Labour decided they were bad 10 years later. Then Labour accused them of being "Tory schools for posh kids". Then Labour abolished them.
