Can't believe I watched from start to finish. No crappy music and was very hands on. I learned a lot just off this video alone. It was very easy to digest. Thanks for taking your time putting this together.

3 things that bothered me: 1. You put the serpentine belt on wrong. Shouldve gone under the idler pulley thats next to water pump 2. rtv for the thermostat housing - if you replace the gasket, rtv will only make it fail faster. I have done this mistake myself, properly putting it on without the rtv the gasket never failed for me or the next owner of the car. 3. too much rtv for valve cover gasket. Youre only supposed to put a little bit where the vanos meet the head and also a small amount on the corners of the half moons in the front on the head side.

you clearly don't know BMW. easy to get to..lol wait till you need to replace the gaskets.

I have the same car but diesel, 525 tds. it falls to pieces. I bought it with great enthusiasm, here in Uruguay any piece costs a lot to get. The mechanics don't put much effort into it. I wish there was someone around these parts with such knowledge. So professional. With that natural talent. Totally surprised with your work. The best educational video. My God, how nice to see it. I have driven only straight six BMW E39's for the last fifteen years (eight cars in all) and do all my own work. I call 50% BS on this video. Half true, half BS.. They can be great cars, but a neglected example like this will cost ten to fifteen K to make a daily driver. It can be worth the investment! Never buy a V-8!, Unless you can spare 20 K to make a driver out of it. P.S The 50% BS rating was for what he left unmentioned.

This is a GREAT video. But really it's even more simple. Look up "Paint Society" (one of the best sources on youtube). He only uses two grits and finishes with 600, no polishing, just a couple coats 'Spray max USC 2k High Gloss Clearcoat' (they also make one just for headlights). Better than factory and so easy.

Just get a temp gun and drive it check the temperature of shock after 10 hard bumps of miles and it should heat up

If you did all the work in 2 to 3 days, that´s a fair profit if you have another job.

If car sellers were that honest people would actually enjoy buying a car. Sadly car flippers buy cars like yours, clean it, change the oil and filters and sell it for 4 times the price they payed....
