    Man originally meant all people. Male person was werman.Female person was wifman. Man came to mean a male person dropping wer. Female person retains man - woman. But also kept its original meaning of people as in human and mankind. Female and male seem to have same etymology. They don’t. Spelling makes it seem that way.

    Does idealism believe that everything we see cannot be as it is, but rather the way our mind perceives the reality? • @languageandideas
      @languageandideas Před 9 dny

      I don't think democracy would work without capitalism. I believe the freedom to engage in business/generate profit is one of the fundamental freedoms in a democratic system. I think one of the roles of money in a totalitarian state is to motivate people to work and to set the price/market value of goods and services, while in that of a democratic one is, in addition to the aforementioned, to achieve economic progress.

    • @farrider3339

      @@languageandideas🤔 I think we could dig deeper by a more critical look at what you've stated. First, I agree if people don't get well payed by the system they live under, this political system would get instantly toppled over. Now, Are we _free_ to make profit ? No, I claim. We are forced towards growth and profit by the laws inherent to capitalism. No freedom in sight. That's obvious to me. Freedom and capitalism are like water and fire. That which is sold to us as _freedom_ is it's very opposite. Are you free not to make money when being in need for a fair amount of share from what society provides for decent living ?

    • @languageandideas
      @languageandideas Před 9 dny

      I agree, I stand corrected, and you are right. In a capitalist system, one isn't really free NOT to make profit, since if one doesn't do so (i.e. merely trade goods/services instead of selling them to make a profit) one is simply not in a capitalist system but in another one (a trading system perhaps?).

      @@languageandideas We trust the Age of Enlightenment too much, but in the meantime it has made many scientific, philosophical and political mistakes. Aesthetics should be taxonomically classified as metapsychology. By the form of processes - as physiology. And by the way of thinking - as religious mysticism. The Age of Enlightenment singled out art as a separate form and thus destroyed it. Today the result of such a separation is especially obvious.
