Easy explanation of the Fourier transform and the Discrete Fourier transform, which takes any signal measured in time and extracts the frequencies in that signal. This is a work in progress, let me know if anything doesn't make sense, and I will update the video to make that clearer. Thanks for watching!

question, how do you know which function (cosine and sine function) we would use given the amplitude and its phase?

Simon, in 9 minute and 19 seconds you are saying to "simply double every value below the Nyquist limit". It means to double X(0) - the DC component and Nyquist component. I don't think that's correct.

Best DFT explanations ever. I am very impressed. All details of DFT are presented in ways that are as simple as they are critical. I admit that I had to do enough prior studies for your video to make good sense, but to be able to tie up all the loose ends in people's fractured understandings of DFT and present the subject in such a outstanding way and in its entirety is a rare talent. Thank you again.

I'm stuck on trying work out why you double the values less than the nyquist when there are points beyond nyquist. That was the only confusing part. Can someone clear this up? Do you double the values always or only when data is found beyond the nyquist?
