Full Version - How to Move the Heaviest Upright Piano DIY
We always use blankets, straps and sometimes additional pads. This video was filmed, with permission by the customer, which is me and is for your education. We recommend spray glue on the dolly contact points. This will greatly help placing and removing the piano. It is recommended that the dolly have a fixed wheeled dolly and that it is placed 60/40 toward the pickup side. This will make that side easy to lift and the heavy side can go out the doors first so the piano can be pushed down to raise up and over the threshold.
It is a fully assembled and fully functional 100 year old player piano weighing roughly 800 pounds. If we had covered the piano can you imagine the comments we'd receive? We get them anyway 😉.
There have been some further questions regarding this video so here's the link to the full video czcams.com/video/n8BN8ZX4fS0/video.html and here's a link to another piano I would say is even heavier than this one. czcams.com/video/8417txjse00/video.html

Well done! It's clear you know how to use your strength! Thanks for posting this video!
😂😂 piano made of feathers! Usually takes 4 to 6 guys just to lift it
fucking hell by himself? a fucking pro
watching him lifting thatlike its nothing g makes me feel relaxed for the day!, i just got my piano, and it was face to face with the wall, i was tryjng just to move it face out of the wall just to check the keys, i could not even standed a chance, its like a mountain heavy, or if its like screwed to the ground, btw the pedals seystem was oof the piano so thats that its too heavy!
Going out of the door between two level was the most important thing. How not to break the edge. But it was left out :(
What the f*** is strapping it to the dolly I don’t see straps. And I see this piano is lightweight maybe 200lbs
To beleive something is impossible, it will be impossible. To beleive something is possible, it will be possible. Future success (or failure) comes; based on whether or not we beleive truly in our missions and dreams. +Bryan Hicks
Hehe, the hernia costs much more to repair than hiring a piano mover. ☺
Errr … how did the dolly magically jump over the entrance threshold (0:59)?
So wait, it weighs 800 lbs and homie just picked up from one side like that to put dolly under??
moving an upright piano by yourself step 1: DON'T MOVE AN UPRIGHT PIANO BY YOURSELF!
what if you detached the top and front panels to reduce weight?
How would u get one downstairs?
Wassat an mdf piano!?🤔 My sucker is solid walnut from the 1930's an it’s a biiii#ch for me to move.. an Im proper hard too!💪🏼
Thank you!!!
Very impressive!
This is an example of an unprofessional unsafe example of moving a 700 lb piano. It's very bad for your back. Don't fall into this trick. I'm moving pianos, and just by looking at this guy, how easy he is raising a piano, you can tell it's can't be real. This piano is an empty box.
Es una locura subir un piano entre dos personas, pesa demasiado,si se les resbala, se lesionan
Ótimo
Player pianos like this weigh close to 1000 lbs. He takes his time but one man piano moving is not recommended since piano can flip very quickly.but good technique
That is not easy. We have 4 people for move Baldwin piano . Very HEAVY
And this is how they did it 89 years ago! czcams.com/video/xIWcfBWrQlk/video.html
That looked to easy. Can't be right. Those pianos are very heavy
How about moving the piano downstairs?
This mf is insane
For a professional shit work didn’t wrap anything and touched many of the walls for do it yourself sure if your mover tries to take it as it get a new mover
I think we found the strongest man on earth or the lightest piano ever. Because I have a 1900 upright grand piano and I've had several guys think they could pick it up and I have yet for any 1 man to be able to do it.
epic
What????? Not a real piano
His movements are all 'SMART', 'CALCULATED', 'EXPERIENCED'; as well as being very 'STRONG', 'MUSCLED UP IN THE RIGHT PLACES', and 'HIGH ENERGY'......AND.....'COOL, CALM, COLLECTED. He also has 'PLANNED EVERY MOVE IN DETAIL', has 'EVERY' TOOL and 'piece of 'EQUIPMENT' in the 'RIGHT' PLACE at the 'RIGHT' MOMENT. He will have 'STUDIED' every 'DIMENSION' of the 'ROUTE' to be followed. GOOD PLANNING MAKES ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE LOOK EASY.....'KIDS'....DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME !!!!!
Too much wrong with this. I’ve moved a few pianos.
Thanks for commenting. If you are planning another move soon please film it for everyone's benefit. As the description mentions we always use blankets and straps. I also like to spray a little tack glue on the dolly to grab the piano when putting on and taking off. All the best.
Send help I don't know how or who to lift up my piano and move it to a apartment door💀
Try and move that 4 flights of stairs in Boston
I will not even try. LoL
hahahaaa

The person holding the camera must be exhausted.
It's my brother. I had to talk him into it. He's off doing his own thing and I'm needing to update the videos soon. You might see some kind of Plano camera mount next time. Thanks for the reply.
@@PhoenixPianoMovingAZ It was meant as a joke. He did an excellent job.
@@williamjver there is always room for improvement like hold the phone sideways not vertical
Impressive
Notice the video jumps when bring the piano in and out through the door frame. Was someone else giving him a hand?
I've done this a couple times. They skipped past the trouble spots in this video. how did he get the dolly in his hand between the time he lifted one end and when he placed the dolly under the piano? How did he get the piano not to roll away from him when he lifted one end? (see how he gets the piano off the dolly near the end of this video) How did he get the dolly to not to slide towards him along the bottom of the piano when he lowered the piano onto it? (its real important that the crosspieces on the dolly are high friction material and not carpet ot moving blanket, trust me) He skipped the part about getting the dolly wheels over the threshold; this usually requires either some awesome wheely skills or a trip out the back door, around the house to lift the piano and dolly wheels over the bump (kind of like how he must have done it moving the piano in a the end of the video. I found that the piano does not always want to stay precicely where it is balanced on the dolly and so I tightly strap the piano to the dolly front and back. I used to keep a couple triangular sticks as wheel chocks handy in case i had to keep the whole thing from moving somewhere in the process. No multiple steps in or out of the house in this video. If you have steps, plan on using a ramp like the one he has on the truck. I found it easiest to set the ramp on the floor a little way more than half way into the house with the other through the door sticking out of the house. then I rolled the piano onto the end of the part that was inside the house. i lifted the end that was sticking out of the house and slid sections of 1"pvc pipe about 1' apart between the ramp and the floor inside the house. I attached a come-along to the house end of the ramp and the dolly to prevent the piano from taking off down the ramp when i tilted the ramp. From outside the house I pulled the ramp, dolly and piano on the PVC rollers as a unit. ( be sure to keep the pvc rollers exactly crossways to the ramp because what ever is on top of the pvc rollers is going to roll where the pvc rollers tell it to go) 'Till the ramp and piano were just about to tip over the edge of the first step. Then i went back in the house and lifted the house end of the ramp/piano/dolly unit to tip the ramp downhill . Then i let the piano and dolly down slowly with the come-along. Reverse procedure going up steps. Dont get in a hurry doing this . Take your time. If it looks like it wont go right , it wont and its always harder to get out of the mess you have created than it was to get in it. If somewhere along the way you find yourself yelling at the dog, the kids, the wife of the mail man , this job isn't for you. Just one more thing, I've done it but I dont recommend trying this with a furniture dolly. the dolly this guy is using is a piano dolly made for the job. Swiveling wheels on a dolly in this application can be a real nuisance. add carpet pads found on most furniture dollys and you will double your misery. like I said, it can be done but at least call to see if your rental yard has a real one.

Haha - tiny little front wheels arrive at the threshold- jump cut - tiny little back wheels arrive at the threshold- jump cut
naw cousin. your back is dead. there is no art to that god bless you
I have done that hundreds of times. By the time I was 64 my back had suffered enough to cripple me for life. Just because you can do it does not mean you should. Also get a different dolly. It is just stupid to move them this way.
so this is why they say you need 2 people, one to move the piano, and the other to hold the camera
The worlds lightest piano looks like I could carry that thing on the truck
It is much better to use a strap body harnest ( two people) to carry a piano up a flight of stairs.
dangerous and not necessary
That's just pure technique
I just had a movement and this guy looks like he's ifting a piano CASE .....wow, what a stud!....er its a prop
This is amazing.. i have a spinet and can barely move it away from the wall to use the plug behind it ..
Here's a tip buy a keyboard
Hahaha!😄 I guess that piano is empty of its heavy components for that one guy to be able to move it around so easily with a four wheel dolly! To lift it up like he did takes two tough guys and also to push it up a ramp and down! And what it don't show you in the video is that, you can easily scratch the wooden floor the way that guy moves it around!🤨🕊️
So how did he actually get the piano out of the house? The video cut every time a wheel had to go over a step. Fake news!
