This panel of speakers really encapsulates the current state of affairs in Bengal. They seem to consider themselves intellectuals but are clearly lacking awareness and understanding on several important issues. This intellectual void is glaringly evident in this debate.

A debate on a topic which should invite concern and educated opinions from the majority, which people claim to be a part of, has instead been reverted to a self-proclaimed "intellectual" debate in the comments. Just one look at the comments will lead one to realise that both silence and uneducated clamour spell doom for the nation.

My dad has been working in a steel factory, not as manager but as a worker for the last 2 decades, my education in CBSE has been the blessing of one of the many who call themselves the silent majority, I feel this debate was the best held on the topic yet, because they not only avoided resorting to rivalry due to various parties but they also stuck to the motion. When you read the motion "A nation with a silent majority spells doom", it literally speaks of the people, and the way their voting and mind system works If you're bringing in party politics into this you clearly haven't understood the topic, and if you're so passionate about a party, find yourself a partner cause at least, that person will like you back as compared to the party you are so passionately advocating for, which doesn't even know you exist. Go find something better to do. Kudos to CDC and the young debaters!

Sometimes minority is not minority in numbers. Also there are class differences within them which needs to be addressed.Also radical elements and their intent and visible actions are the reason why majoritarianism takes a responding stance.While we talk about majoritarianism on one dimension but we fail to check on why majoritarianism in the first place.Why parsees being in minority are respected and another majority minority not.
