To me they drive absolutely fine (if you take care of them) Just make sure you check for any head gasket leaks because of the mileage it has and check for oil leaks also. I find that the best time to do oil changes is at 5000 kilometers or 3000 miles.
How much does it cost to replace the head gasket?
I paid $120 for mine from ebay.

@@wilsonsia7406 I would recommend that it is a performance head gasket to prevent any issues later down the road. And also make sure that you get the correct one for your engine size.

That was cool, Samuel - thanks! Your 2010 Forester STILL looks and sounds like it runs great! You have kept her in excellent condition! I remember that model of Forester and have always liked that color, too. Has she given you any mechanical problems at all? FYI, I just bought a 2022 Forester Premium that arrives to the dealership next week and I am very much looking forward to receiving it -- I have always really liked the Forester and Outback! Thanks for the video and great job at keeping your Forester in great shape!
Thanks for watching. I have not had any mechanical issues with it since new. I have however replaced the stock head gasket with a performance head gasket just to be safe. I also have a video on a 2017 JDM Forester if you'd like to see it. Thanks again.👍

And, yes, I had read about the head gaskets on the older Subaru models and how the newer ones have been equipped with some type of double-layered improved metal type. But, it was wise to get a head of that fix! And, yes, I checked out your other vid on the newer Subaru, too. Thanks! I'm like you in that I take really good care of my cars and we get to experience the benefits of that many years down the line! Cheers!
