    Such a strange turn of events but George Lazenby didn't disgrace the role despite his inexperience. He performed admirably, there have been certainly worse performances as Bond by people considered as seasoned performers.

    Bond avoided commitment and marriage because he didn't want to turn loved ones into targets. Also, if he died, he didn't want to leave mourners, especially a widow or children. Tracy's death just proved that he had the right idea all along. Of course, he couldn't quit his job because he's an adrenalin addict.

    What an opportunity missed to document this ripper location better. They spend mere seconds showing the location which had not changed since the murder. Even more frustrating is the cameraman even went to the trouble of climbing Ito the actual room to get a shot looking out and we see nothing. Tantalising to think that at least 10 mins more footage would have been shot and might still exist as rushes but was never used.

      yes I agree more could and might have been filmed But let's get one thing straight regarding the murder of Annie Chapman they her killer and Chapman would have Had To have walked through the front door and into the backyard committed the murder then either climbed over the fence to escape or walked back through the house and out the front door - whilst the inhabitants are inside and Awake - odd to say the least - how unlikely is it that her killer would have Trapped themselves like that - next to zero imo the killer never left the house or could enjoy all the palaver from very close by .

    • @WolfgangMozart-y3l
      @WolfgangMozart-y3l Před 2 dny

      Agreed! It would have been great to see the cameraman enter, and get a look of the staircase and walkthrough. Would have also been a great opportunity to record themselves walk into the kitchen, sit down and interact/interview the old woman. They could have got some longer and wider shots outside, and perhaps even gone upstairs.

    On Her Majesty's Secret Service is stands alone in the Bond genre for many reasons. IMHO as a life long Bond fan, George Lazenby was more of a passable caricature of the Connery Bond. I think the casting of the late Dane Diana Rigg and the late Telly Salavlas raised the film's standard. I would go so far as saying Dane Rigg's character of Tracy was the first Bond girl to actually be the lead with Mr. Salvalas as the co-star. Mr. Lazenby was there to make it a "bond" film but really wasn't the action dramatic lead. I salute Mr. Lazenby for his chutzpah as a complete neophyte to walk into the offices of one of the most successful cinema franchises of the late 60s and fake his way into being cast as James Bond. But when he was put into a cast with experienced actors who were masters of their craft he could only be exposed like a piece of glass placed next to a D-Flawless diamond.

    Another 30 year-old who thinks he understands the world. What a massive mistake Lazenby made in not accepting the 5-6 picture deal for additional Bonds. Just because he wanted pop music in Bond and to wear a beard?? He talks about this in his recent interview-film, he blames this terrible choice on his agent at the time, who though Bond was (in 1969!) dated and running its course. He was a good actor and handled the part fairly well. It's too bad (though Roger Moore was ok).

    I met Agnetha and Bjorn at their hotel in Birmingham in '77. They both were carrying things and had to put them down to sign their autographs for me. The hotel's lifts etc seemed to operate from the coffee shop floor above the reception area. Floor 1 I think. (a friend used many tactics to get us in to be with many celebrities of the time) I was struck by how tall Agnetha was/is. Carefree times! The evening concert was sensational. The friend even got us to stand right in front of the concert stage. Ushers came and eventually told us to return to our seats. We weren't disappointed as we'd actually been closer earlier that day. I can't wait to see Voyage.
