I went here today and it s really fun and a good experience!
See y’all in October!
I'll be there as well. 👍
This video filled my heart with so much joy. Thanks for putting it together. :)
I just got back from my second year in a row of kayaking with a small group in Ecuador with Dan as our guide. Dan is an amazing kayaker, a good teacher and a great guy.
This was an awesome video
"Master Guide" does no guiding. Just watch me stern squirt the Tallulah
I went here during the summer. It was foggy, but the foggy made it feel like we were in a movie. The cottages on the side were so beautiful. It was so peaceful 😍
Red Bank is a great place to visit. Welcome
This place is really magical! I fell in love the first time I stay there in a cabin. I've been there in 2 different occasions. It was in the early 2000's and I can forget those moments. One of the best places to hike, mountain biking and camping! I enjoy for the first time in my life rafting at Nantahala River! Congrats for an excellent job! I wish I could go there once a year!
This place is amazing! My best trip! I love this place! I went twice and i'd like to go more!!!
First
Going over the falls was my favorite part
I’m scared to do this
Wow!
Thank you for all that you have done for my son. He loves this camp and can't wait to go back every summer. He was also pretty happy to see himself in the video.
That is awesome! Also, sorry for the incredibly late reply
I spent the night here back in '01 when I was Thru-Hiking the Appalachian Trail. One of my highlights in the South and I hope to one day return to learn whitewater kayaking!
I just got back home from this😌
Was it fun my dad is taking us here
So grateful for this guy! Without him I may not have fallen so hard for whitewater kayaking. I hadn’t felt that sort of exhilaration since surfing as a child. Dan is an all around incredible person and the best instructor I’ve ever had!
Ducky Life at its best!
is this only available for white people? I didn't even see a person from another race.
Thank you all so much!. I'm the daughter of abbie mikel i was looking for this channel. Again thank you!!!
I went to this river just recently and it is a experience I will never forget
Can’t wait to be back!
Glad to see Dan still going strong. He taught my kayak course back in the summer of '97 for my high school senior trip. Unbelievable guy. Enough that I remember him all these years later. Believe we called him Greystoke
super :)
Where's Scotty?
Address the rumors of rampant cockroaches....
What state is this in ?
The Nantahala Outdoor Center is located in Bryson City, North Carolina, USA.
Perfect. Looks so much more dynamic than a kayak. That line was so awesome. And he cleaned it!!
I was there 2 days ago unbelievable! Just go and hang out. Put your feet in the water.have dinner oh yeah forgot get the tacos !!!
Can one ride a funyak/ducky, solo, or a kayak? Or does one need certification? What's it like getting certified?
yeah, should have some dualing bangos like in the movie.
Very cool
Completed both sections yesterday. It was an enjoyable experience overall but take some time to understand your route before hitting the water. My best advice is to stay to the right side of the river. The current is faster on the right side. It took us just over 6 hours to complete both sections and we only stopped once for 5 minutes. ALWAYS check the forecast before heading out. We got caught in the middle of a lightening storm and due to the sunlight fading fast we had to stay in the water to finish before dark. The upper section was great, calm, relaxing water. A few sections of debris where you have to kind of paddle away from it other wise you will end up hitting a downed tree. The lower section was the rough part for us. Getting stuck on rocks, not knowing which route to take as the river split two or three different times and the NOC team did not explain which direction to take. Once you pass jump rock you want to follow the main section of the river to the right even though it looks as if you can take either. BIG MISTAKE ... we took the left side of the river and on a tube it is impossible to pass. I got out and walked across the jagged rock for nearly a mile even though the water looks fast flowing and passable. which brings me to the next point ... TAKE SHOES. I wore a pair of slides and the current is moving to fast and the slick rock was impossible to wear them. I had never tubed down this section of the river before and didn't know what to expect other than watching this video. a couple pieces of advice i can offer is to take your tube to Johnson ferry outpost drop them off and have someone stay with them while you drive your vehicle to the paces mill location, then use Uber to take you back to the Johnson ferry outpost. We purchased a shuttle ticket (wrist band) for $10 but after waiting for 25 minutes and no shuttle arriving i elected to call an Uber X for $12. NOC staff couldn't give me a refund at the time and told me to call the powers island location the next business day to see about a refund. All in all the trip was amazing, other than being a little sunburnt it was a great time and i will do it again.
How much did it take to type this
Thanks!
Great tips 👍🏽Thanks for sharing your experience 🤗
Love it!
me and my mother went. here in july 2016 our guide was polar bear we were about. 20 feet along the rapids and we hit a huge branch we had to wait at least 15 minutes in the freezing cold water and the it was slaming against our backs i was about to just let go when another guide somehow turned her duck around set her duck ontop of ours took me by my life vest and yanked me up on top of her duck and then tried to get my moms foot out fom under the at least 150 pound raft polar bear got to a stop somewhere in the journey came back to me and my mom she blached out he took me too land about 3 feet away from the branch went to help the woman get my mom un stuck got her too land we both had to climb a huge steep mound of dirt got to the road walked a mile mom was bleeding like crazy we finaly got to a bus that took us too the parking lot we got in the car mom threw up and drove 30 minutes back to our cabbin and went to take a nap it was horible i hope your manager slips and falls
Sounds like a blast!!
That’s not horrible it was amazing
Someone fell out of his duckie close to the falls and my dad threw him a rope and saved his life
It looks like the new Phantom
The music's a little intense, but I like it.
Music is too dramatic for the scene.
way too short and wished you showed more of the river. I would have included shots of parents and children in duckies too, or a family in a non guided raft, out on their own having fun. ( for those who might think a guide is mandatory) you should have had the overhead shot while running the falls and did the close up raft camera footage where it is calm. and it doesnt get any cuter than a kid in a small JK fun kayak surfing the wave at founders bridge! when parents see how little and how good these kids are it would make some feel better about doing the river with their younger children you do so much more with kids and families and i would have liked to see some of that stuff too. the bikes, the hikes, the zipline, the activities and face painting at GAF, plus all the other fun stuff. I've been coming to NOC for 20 years now and love it. I usually stay 2 weeks when out there and still dont have enough time to do everything i want to do!
EXCELLENT! You've covered a variety of age levels as well as river intensity levels. The "Be The Hero" concept is perfect. Hope you're running this in the Central Florida markets as well since so many folks from that area come to the mountains for summer fun
this is tv. youtube needs action. informative though.
You guys are the best! I hope to work there as a rafter check-in person not this summer, but the next!
Great video, Danny & Christy! Loved seeing those BIG GRINS on the kids' faces! I took friends up to NOC three times last summer and cannot wait to go again this year. Kayaking and Rafting is in the Rodkin DNA, for sure! :) Love you, Debbie
My one true dream is to attend this school in hopes of gaining employment at this wonderful outfitter. NOC is the BEST!!
Looks great!
