segment featuring Kathie Lee Johnson Gifford taped in Hollywood June, 1977
What Kind Of A F*** Am I is not a very nice song! The other F word!
I like Kathy's hairdo.
The seventies, back when it was normal for the host to hold the show girl to his body for no particular reason. 🤦🏽♀️
If this was today. They would have buzzed him for the coke a cola song
When I was a kid and home from school early I turned on the TV and watched what I thought was a goofy show for the first time: Name That Tune . When Kathy Lee began to sing I was stunned. To HELL with the game show! I just want to hear her sing! I thought she the real deal and turned out to be correct.
Well you should make sure that you have a backup generator so power does not completely go out for your food source if you're in a cold climate so you should be telling that to users and also enough food and water
Rest in peace, Tom Kennedy.
$115,000
The original Karen
🤣🤣🤣 too funny. You’d think so but Kathie is really sweet and has a bad ass sense of humor tho.
I'm sure two decades after that during the sweatshop and Frank cheating scandals, she wished she could return to this more innocent time in her life.
The look is part Dorothy Hamill, part Lauren Tewes from The Love Boat.
The Dorothy Hammil haircut was huge back then.
I think they called it "short and sassy".
R.I.P. Jim Lange ( one of the hosts of The $100,000 Name That Tune)
R.I.P. Jim Lange
this was one of the best game shows ever.
And now, she’s retired from “The Today Show.”
I just want get a look at that $5000 car! Whew!!!!
That Car was a Datsun 200SX
THIS. LANG. OR. TED. LANG. HOST. WAS. SO. FUSSY, A. PERFECTIONIST. FOR. NAME. THAT. TUNE. SHOW. BACK. IN THE. DAY,, OTHER. HOST. NOT. THAT. HARD. ON. CONTESTANTS.
Kathie Lee looks and sounds beautiful.
I always fantasized Kathy Lee howling the Star Spangled Banner into the head of my peep , as if it were a microphone.
A year later Kathy Lee became a Hee Haw honey.
Yessir
Loved this show!!!!
I did Kathie Lee's audition tape! that is the first time they taped the LaLa girl in front of a live audience. I've asked Ralph Edwards team for a copy of the tape - they are claiming it has been lost. I would LOVE to see it!!
Thanks!!! This is actually the first show that aired! I was on the tape where they tested the format!!
He didn't name one of them correctly, but they gave it to him. It's "I'd LIKE to Teach the World to Sing" not love.
"I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" was used in Coke commercials in the early 70's. I still remember that tune from as far back as 1972. It still reminds me of when I first drank Coca-Cola as a kid around age 2.
i remember the show n kathie lee
Finally, I witnessed a Golden Medley win on Tom Kennedy's version...finally!
I had the biggest crush on Kathie Lee on "Name that tune". Plus I like the thick swingin bobbed hair she had. I wanted to run my hands through it. lol
Best winner's music
Best winner's music
I had such a crush on her when I was a young lad :D
that's the dorothy hamel on steroids, institutional cut hair style. she[kathie lee] does look hot "today",as a mature babe, but she's still an asshole.
Wonder if he won the $100K the next week (or $10K a year for teh next 10 years).
*2012* "You will win $2,500!!!" "Awesome! I can buy a new purse with that money."
She had that Toni Tennille hair goin' on!
$5000, that's like $30,000 today! That's about two month's debt!
Wow a datsun..lol. My neighbor used to drive a brown one.
@PREGO1966 Another possible reason is that perhaps they weren't too concerned about the word switch in this part of the game, as long as they got the important part of the title correct. If he flubbed the "Teach the World To Sing" part, then he would've probably been DQed (which I'm guessing the producers only needed that part, though they displayed that whole thing on the screen). Unlike the 100k tune, the other parts were a bit more lenient in that sense.
He should have been penalized on "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing". Someone once got penalized for naming "It's A Grand Night For Singing" as "It's A Grand TIME For Singing". My guess is Tom didn't catch it, nor did the videotape operator.
I was one of the contestants on Kathie Lee Gifford's audition tapings. Mr. Ralph Edwards wanted to make some format changes to the $100,000 Name That Tune - including adding the 'La La Girl'... They brought back two former contestants for the test... and showed the completed product at the "PREVIEW HOUSE" on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. LOL... they opted to keep her around but not me :^)
Interesting !
She was a cutie, but for her age, she's still luke warmish! I don't see a GSN bug, this must B an old tape!! Anywho, I loved all those gameshows in the mid to late 1970's!!
I remember in the 70's watching her on this show. Besides her voice she had quite the body and she often went braless in certain outfits that left little to the imagination. Tame today but on the edge for TV back then.
We had a British version of Name That Tune in the UK as well. It was first hosted by Tom O Connor then Lionel Blair but your format seems the same as the UK one. This brings back memories of it.
Dorothy Hammil did more harm than she'll ever know.
So funny!
she looks like Target Lady from Saturday Night Live!
The host sounds like Gerry Springer.
Tom Kennedy is still with us & I am guessing he might be amused by that comparison.
i got about 2
love her hair !
Yeah, but Jerri Fiala sure looked great in that fur!
Agreed, John, it's a treat to see these. Did you get anything good out of those 1.5 million Green Stamps? :)
I used to love this game show when I was a kid.
