Blues in E on my old Gibson ES-125 (1952) through a Fender Vibro Champ tube amp (1965)
Playing a short Blues in E my vintage 1952 Gibson ES-125 archtop through a Fender Vibro Champ from 1965. Just the guitar, amp and Spectraflex cable. Heard as is, just a little bit of reverb added in Logic and a limiter to get the levels right for CZcams.
The Gibson ES125 has the original P90 pickup from the early 50s. The Vibro Champ is equipped with a Weber classic alnico 8” speaker.
Recorded with a Shure SM57 and a Audio-technica AT4081 through Neve 4081 preamps. SM57 panned to the right and AT4081 to the left.
Hope you enjoy it! Please subscribe to my channel for more jazz guitar related videos.

    Sweet touch, lovely playing, loving your tone. May I ask... I'm looking at possibly acquiring the same model Gibson...can you describe the neck profile on something of this era please? I'm hoping the neck is full, as I do like a chunky neck! Many thanks for your video(s) 👍🏽

    • @martinsoderbacka
      @martinsoderbacka Před měsícem

      Thank you very much! Yes it’s a very chunky neck profile and it’s a round C or D shape - this one is made 1952. The earlier models had thicker neck profile. It’s definitely chunkier than the popular ’59 neck profile that a lot of guitar replicate these days. Had a 125TCD from 1965 and the neck was much thinner than the ’52. I’d say go for it, they are great value guitars especially with the original pickups! 🙂

      Gosh, there are so many greats to study! My first musical love was the blues so there’s a lot of stuff I learned back in the day from Robben Ford, Robert Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughan and many more. From a jazz context Pasquale Grasso, Charlie Parker, Joe Pass, Peter Bernstein, Jim Hall, John Scofield, Wes Montgomery are some of my heroes! Hope this helps! 🙂
