Fun fact, 4:24 You don’t HAVE to immediately go after the Lich Heartless the first time. When he took Riku’s heart on Olympus. You can fight the other Heartless beforehand. That appear on the way to the Lich. They spawn ENDLESSLY. It’s an easy way to beef up some MAJOR experience! And if you want to switch out your keyblades , you can just go to the save point and the bottom entrance to do so and come back up again

Choco King's cape, ATB Boost, First Strike, Swiftcast, Sinergy, Magnify and casting AOE spells like Blizzaga or Quakaga worked fine for me on the battle against tonberries

For example, take the rufus fight at the gold saucer. On normal it was annoying and an endless gimmick on its own. He counter attacks every hit and is immune to all status effects and elemental damage. But you could wittle him down over time and get it done. On hard mode it is completely pathetic. You have to dodge all of his moves perfectly and then use a weapon ability when his reloading for the 2 seconds he takes. Dont forget to huild up atb bars, heal up and dodge every move he makes. Litteally you need to pretty much perfect every move he makes. Was not fun in any way was not enjoyable was not challenging was just a massive headache and endless gimmick nothing to do with skill or challenge. It was he had a gimmick that you could only hit him at a select moment and need the atb and health to pull it off. The devs knew this when making the game and instead of trying to make it fun or enjoyable they just kept adding more gimmicks and bullshit. The intel and other quests and content made is seem bulky and like there was a lot to do. But after the 3rd area you realise it is all just endlessly the same stuff with slight variations. And again becomes a chore and boring to get done. Very late game combat simulations, some hard mode bosses, gilgamesh island to some extent and some of the hard mode mini games were just conplete gimmick trash with no thought put into it at all. It was like they didnt kjow how to make a challenging and interesting game. They had the ffvii name and story so could just stick whatever crap gameplay mechanics in there they like and people would still buy it. And they did. Twice now. Soon 3 times lok

The only thing i enjoyed about this game was the graphics. I thought all the battles and mini games were gimmicks with no strategy or skill involved. And the story was average. I would have much prefered a proper remake of the original with enhanced graphics. I honestly give this game a 1/10. And the 1 is for the graphics. I 100% this game and every little thing was a chore. I did not enjoy any part of the mini games, side quests or battles as i thought they were based around gimmick mechanics and not challenege or strategy. The challenge was learning the one particular move set or weakness of an enemy. On hard mode and later challenges got to a point where if you didnt look at a guide online and or change your materia to a particular set up you was pretty much screwed. And then it was endless hours of repetitive attempts because the bosses and enemys have one hit kills, doom countdowns and 1 hp moves. The mini games are all based around crap gameplay mechanics and are not interesting or fun. I honestly hard to push myself so hard to get this game 100% so many times i reminded myself i absolutely hated all of the game play mechanics and content. It gets a 1 for graphics and story and then loses 9 points for its crap gameplay mechanics, endlessly repetitive, gimmicks galore and no value or interest. I will replay ffvii for ps1 until i die. I will never ever replay ffvii rebirth. I am so glad i 100% this game and can now never have to play it again. Hated it.

I think I remember seeing this in my childhood.

I finished this fight about 5 seconds. Aerith with First Strike + Chocokings Cape for 2 full ATB at start. Use Arcane Ward then use ATB boost. Cast Quakaga with Magnify. The size of the spell causes it to hit every one of them per cast, youre getting 3 casts with the magnify, plus automatically recasting for a total of 6 Quakagas. Not only is the damage insane (I had 400 magic and Lv.50 on Dynamic Difficulty), but the Quake will also knock them into the air, so no need for Stop/Sleep/etc.

Yeah no I went EZ mode on this stupid ass challenge. After beating those damn tonberries, next fight is against 2 jokers and 1 Gigatoad, 2 of the most ANNOYING ENEMIES to fight in the game next to Rufus Shinra. Fuck this shit.

This fight is ridiculously unfun, I have done just about almost everything in this game on dynamic and it's way too hard. I have also beaten remake/intermission on hard mode and done all of the superbosses, and this is STILL harder than anything in remake hard mode. I feel bad for casual players trying this on easy/normal, and I feel even worse for me in the future trying this on hard mode. Not the tonberry fight specifically since you can just use safety bit, but this entire challenge. Especially the 2x joker and the toad, holy shit that ones hard

Safety bits are your best friend or warding + subversion to prevent. Heads knife

I think I got lucky. Cloud got gutted instantly and I swapped to Aerith but the Tonberrys ignored Red and only attacked Aerith and I was able to use Luscious Shield and Chrono Aegis to keep everyone busy so AI controlled Red chipped away at them. The dual Joker and Giant frog was tough but doable

whoever did the battle designs for this game needs to be booted holy shit its fucking awful this time around. 7 remake was a bit annoying, but ended before it good degrade to this level of horseshit. its not even "hard" combat, its just annoying and shitty.

Just use a safety pin or any item that gives resistance to instant death, even though they can still freeze they cannot kill with chef knife of doom and gloom, hope this helps

You can also use max poison materia + magnify on tonberrys , also work pretty well

The fact that this string of battles is a sidequest is absolutely atrocious. These fights should be relegated to optional high-end Combat Simulator encounters. And then, within the logic of the sidequest itself, you're telling me that this Shinra Exec was capable of this? These fights abandon all game logic and are just a lazy excuse to lock the "All Quests Completed" trophy behind one of the most annoying sequences this series has seen.

I fought, won and then died twice on the frog and joker encounter. This is the absolute worst thing ever concieved.
