The North Face Bastion 4 Tent, 4 Season, 4 person tent
This is a short overview of the features of the 2016 model of The North Face Bastion 4 tent.
This model has an improved floor design with reinforcements at key points. The fly material has been changed from polyester coated with PU to nylon coated with silicone/PU mix. Nylon has better UV resistance (longer lifespan) but gets saggy when wet.
Pitching: easy in one person with the occasional struggle when inserting the poles through the sleeves (they sometimes catch on the sleeve reinforcements). The tent stands very taut even when it is not staked down.
Fly colors: yellow gold / black. The black panels look like they won't let much light pass through, but from inside the tent they appear to have almost a dark blue hue, and they are somewhat translucent making for a cozy ambiance inside.
Ventilation: 2 x main tent, 1 x rear vestibule, 2 x front vestibule.
Inner Storage: 4 x large rectangular mesh pockets, 6 x triangular mesh pockets.
Inner tent webbing loops: 21pcs (useful for tying cord to dry out clothing or hanging small items)
Zippers: they feel and sound noisy and don't run very smoothly. A bit of a concern there.

NOTE: to adjust the heel for climbing in the first position (for small inclines), unlock the heel and pivot the binding forward and push the heel lock down (in the exact same position it goes when locking the binding for downhill).

ok....what am I missing here??? T here's no audio and barely ANYTHING to show me what's going on with the setup! As soon as the poles were in place, he starts raising them up and....NOTHING. What happened next??? This was totally useless. :-(

Nice very expensive but it doesn't really stop condensation. Many tents now releave this problem.

The so called floors on these tents are sad excuse. And the zippers sound like a missile blasting off.
Hello, Very Nice Tent... I am the owner of two tents by The North Face... My first tent is the “Pole Sleeve Oval Intention” (3-4 person) I bought it back in 1981...? My second tent is the “Himalayan 47” (4-6 person). Purchased in 2006. Both are (Very Stout) 4 season Winter tents. I Love them both... Greg

Best dyna presentation
The pole clips on the side to side black pole last to go in (well looking back lol it's the only side to side regardless of the color) anyway are they U.V.resitant and extreme cold resistant. Just asking because I've had high-end tents in the past and these were the first things to fail,then cracked poles and so one and none were more than 3 yrs old and clean and stored properly. Ex -Military my kits important. Not criticising just asking because I'm in the market for a awesome 4 season 4 occupants tent for the wife and me and the dogs. Thanks in advance for the info.😉

This is a 4 man tent. Is there any screen so you can separate the inside so 2 can sleep one side and 2 the other.

Great Video! I purchased the Bastion 4 a couple of weeks ago, my first north face tent. I had searched for vids of this tent but there was only a couple. It has been rainy here, so I finally got to set the tent up today to see if I could do it myself. There were a few snags and this thing is heavy, but great quality! It was a lot easier to put up since I watched you vid the other day. I love everything about this tent so far, and will be using it next weekend. Thanks for the vid!
