The Music Alliance is a cooperation between independent distributors in musical instruments from all over Europe, sharing purchase and sales power. With their combined purchase capacity they have become an interesting party to suppliers from all over the world, and specifically Asian manufacturers. Each individual partner might merely have been able to reach up to the minimum order quantities of some of the bigger factories in China, leaving no room for cost reductions or purchase negotiations. The Music Alliance, acting on behalf of all partners involved, is a serious customer of the industries leading production facilities. Centralising purchases results in better quality, lower costs and higher availability.
Create, Loop, Perform | Hands-On with Valeton VLP-200
Today, we're testing the new Valeton VLP-200 Multi-Track Sampler, a compact dual looper, that is full of great features that allow you to build a track from scratch and jam out.
With its dual inputs and outputs and great sounding built-in drummer, the VLP-200 is a very versatile writing companion and performance tool, that can be used in many creative ways.
In this demo, we're using the option to switch one of its inputs to microphone level, while the other input receives instrument level. In this way, sound quality is retained and levels are easily matched between the two inputs.
Today, we're using the mic input to receive the sound of a mic'ed up tube amp, while the second input receives a direct bass sound coming from a preamp/ DI. The mono output of the VLP-200 was routed to a clean guitar amplifier (full range, flat response) that was designed to leave the sound unaltered. If you want your loops to have the least amount of distortion and sound coloration, using a very clean amp after the VLP-200 is recommended (this goes for other phrase looper pedals too, by the way), although it can sound very inspiring too if its used with a more colored sounding amp.
Here is the signal routing we used for this demo:
- Instrument cable -- GigRig A/B split (A -- bass sound, B -- guitar sound)
- Bass sound: GRBass preamp/ DI -- VLP-200 (R input)
- Guitar sound: EQD fuzz -- Koch amp/ Shure mic -- VLP-200 (L input)
- VLP-200 output -- GRGuitar FRFR active guitar speaker
Of course, the VLP-200 can also be used in mono in front of your regular amp.
Other cool uses would be to use it in a full stereo setup, where left and right inputs and outputs are all used to keep the full stereo sound of your effects; or a setup where the mic input is used for a vocal or a an acoustic instrument's mic.

Great demo! Is it possible to send out the drums and the guitar loop separately?So that the drums are not distorted by the amp, but the guitar signal can still go to the amp?
Might be great if it can also do sync mode for loop 1 & 2. Imagine that 🙂

@@dextrovert8052 i don’t think free mode works exactly like sync mode as in free mode they are completely independent. Loop 1 doesn’t sync with Loop 2, you can start them whenever you want. Example of sync mode is when Loop 1 is playing and you want to record in Loop 2, loop 2 will wait for loop 1 to start at the beginning of the phrase first. Not start recording immediately. Correct me if I’m wrong.
@@BareandLoopfor the serial mode it's like loop 1 is for the verse and loop 2 is for the chorus, instead of playing them together you can change to different parts of a song. Free mode, you can have 2 different loops and turn them on at the same time or choose which layers you want to loop while you solo or whatever. Does that make sense? There may be more control options too, check the manual.
I’ve read the manual carefully. I think when you are using “free” mode the 2 loops do NOT sync. This, in my view, is a mistake. The vast majority of looping artistes would have no use for 2 tracks that drift away from each other. So i think in my view, a figure firmware update should if possible include that functionality. That said, if you use the internal drum machine/metrnome, both tracks will sync to the drums, which for the way way I loop make a big difference. In that situation you can layer 2 loops and have them synced together. One thing I really like about this looper, is that if you lay down a one bar loop in either of the loop channels, you can overdub longer over the top. So for example you could lay down a one bar base loop and then overdub 4 bars on top of that for example. That is really useful and I think a first for a dual track looper in this price range.

Though I'm probably not going to pop for another clone wheel organ anytime soon but if I ever do, it'll likely be a MOJO 61. Definitely my fave. That organ has a lot of character. And yes, those EP's as well... really nice. Enjoyed your playing as well. Nice one.
IT sounds like these guitars are running through some type of effects and not the natural sound of the instrument . Though they do sound better then a lot of the Asian copies of Nationals .
Probably compression and EQ. The mic, preamp, A/D interface, and effects chain (if any) should always be divulged in the interest of honesty and honestly best showcasing the instrument. Anyone here have experience with these guitars and Gretsch? I like the bobtail, but it buzzes on the E string in the store ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Roundneck spider cone is def for me

@@thibaultbloch5001 No, there is not a count-in. But you can start the drums before recording. Starting and stopping the drums work best with an external foot switch.

Hi, thanks a lot for the demo! Is there any difference if you play both carbon and flax fiber cabs side by side? I own a carbon 1x12 and it sounds to me that the flax fiber sounds a bit more round and warm...could you confirm it or it's just an impression?
I have not tried all models / sizes side by side yet, so I don't know for sure. So far, my impression is that they sound very, very similar.
It said in the description "and bass" well whydon't you put something in the video with bass?
