This was the first place I heard about when I first really explored Saskatoon in 2017 - it became my favorite spot in the city and it is so sad that they closed!
This place was absolutely fantastic and it was my favorite place in Saskatoon - such a massive loss for Riversdale!

Thank you for diving into Lake Diefenbaker and bringing the story of Mistaseni to the surface. Certainly, the action on the part of the government is perceived today as a lack of sensitivity. However, the same archeology professor, Dr. Zenon Pohorecky, declared that the committee to move the rock, made up of him and Indigenous leaders, did not have any resentment against the government and that they were satisfied with the openness to the dialogue they had and considered that the meetings with the government were always positive. In the end, the government's action, although it was never supported by the Cree people, was one of the solutions always mentioned in the meetings to save a less heavy part of the rock and build a memorial cairn. The government kept its word, and the following year, the cairn was constructed with two plaques, one in English and the other in Cree. It is a fascinating story that has many dimensions to analyze. Best.

Some descendants of settlers where lead to believe they broke land. Not aware of the millions of acres of broken ground by First Nations who often farmed and ranched the prairies selling product for pennies on the dollar to Queen Victoria, then referred to as “Great Gandmother”. Only after the Gov decided to give the majority of land to settlers, did the Gov push many First Nations on some of the worst land available, while creating the “Indian Act” subsequently copied by South Africa which called it “The Group Areas Act” of which my then mental health councilor said he was jailed 6x before he was 8 years old, watched the cops shoot 50 kids in the school yard. Question is South Africa disbanded the group areas act modelled after the Indian Act, so then why hasn’t the Indian act been disbanded and should it be???
I bet it's very flavorful Meat especially since it slow cook with Smoke. Salmon Strips are just as good I bet. Thank you for sharing!
very traditional plastic tarp.
Maybe if colonizers did not take away children and put the first nations people in those residential schools where they did very sick minded things to them and beat it into first nations not to follow their own culture and ways of life they would not have lost most of there own tradition, and it's hard for most tribes to get traditional smokers (bison hide) instead of tarp (except the ones in northern canada where game animals are present) since colonizers wasted all the bison to TRY (very poor attempt) to wipe out and starve first nations (which is very sick minded, i feel bad colonizers were raised that way to treat other cultures) but yeah go on

When I was a kid in Philadelphia he was a hockey hero. Now with what he does with his time and his status as an NHL great taking care of people makes him even more impressive to me.
