Hey everybody!
I'm Mitchell Newman, and I'm a 22 year old kid with a passion for agriculture. I grew up in a small farming community just outside of Calgary, Alberta, and that's where our 4th generation farm still stands. Newman Farms consists of both cattle and grain, and as you will come to see, it is never a dull moment. My whole life I have been working for the family farm, and have taken pride in doing so. I have learnt the ins and outs of all things on the farm; seeding, spraying, haying, harvesting, and even sweeping old bin bottoms. On this channel you will get an insider view of how things work on our farm, and also see the day to day activities of how we keep busy in the meantime.

2022 was substantially better than 2021. Hope you all enjoy! Row spacing had significant effects on the yield of CDC Go. 15” rows led to a 3% reduction in yield from 84.1 bu ac-1 to 81.8 bu ac-1. We just purchased the same drill, was concerned about yield decrease in wheat. On our farm it would equal about 17,000 dollars decrease on production. Not including protein premium. Interested to know if the canola yields were increased on 15" spacing to make up the difference from lost production on your wheat. For us it would take 15 years at $17k to make it worth while for us to purchase a drill on 12" spacing. Mind you a drill on 12" spacing would require us to purchase a higher hp tractor, with higher hydraulic flow. Which in turn would burn more fuel and cost more per hour to operate. So if you add the purchase of a newer tractor it would be 30 years or more to see a return on a different drill and different tractor. Curious to hear your opinion with the new Ultra SR on your farm and if it has a long term role in your operation.
Why did you calibrate the drill with the bucket? Thought the drill has active cal on it so you can calibrate while seeding. Or were you getting base calibration numbers so you can do active cal in the future?
We are just double checking is all. There is active calibration while seeding.
Growth regulators are not expensive especially when you see the price of not doing it. A yield hit of probably somewhere in the vicinity of 30% plus the extra disease pressure incurred when it goes down like that makes straw shortener an absolute no brainer. Cycocel, Terpel and Trexel which is a generic of Moddus are other options.

Really is that necessary to brand when they have ear tags and micro chips in their ears
Dear Tractor companies why don’t most of you find an old lorry Frame or even rebuild a brand New Lorry Frame to build stronger and better Tractors and put those Scania N113, Volvo B10M, Volvo D10A, Volvo TD102KF, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel engines for those stronger better Tractors so they can still use them for any farms and even lift a broken down Bigger Buses and even broken down Lorries, why don’t you build 6 and 7 seats so that other passengers can sit at the back and front including the driver. You can still build those four stronger medium sizes wheels and still make them even more farm tractor-like than it still was before, please can you do those exciting idea’s for us tractor Lovers.
