Toyota GR86 Oil Accumulator Test Results - Low Oil Pressure Fixed?
zhlédnutí 3,7KPřed 4 měsíci
Today I am sharing the results from my first day of testing the Moroso 1.5qt oil accumulator out on the track! As always, we are back at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway turning some laps and gathering some data, to see how the accumulator (sometimes called an Accusump) performs in the now notorious right hand turns. Big shoutout and thanks to those in the 86 communitiy who are 1) also testing and sha...
Installing An Oil Accumulator In My 2022 GR86
zhlédnutí 2,6KPřed 5 měsíci
This video covers the complete installation process for an oil accumulator on your 2022 Toyota GR86 or Subaru BRZ. I am using a Moroso 1.5qt HD accumulator with a Canton electronic on/off valve. You could also substitute a Canton Accusump in place of the Moroso accumulator, if so desired (although, it is a big larger at 2qts). The goal with this oil accumulator is to further mitigate, or elimin...

hows the comfort of 235 vs the 215 stock tires?
Can't believe after all that work you used those crap spices! You soldering the ground wire, another 5 minutes or so and you could have done the same to the rest of the wires!
@@rickstatler5581 the splices that have worked fine for over 5 years with 0 issue, those ones? 😕
If you’re wearing a watch type HR monitor, it will be off due to vibrations.
@@MikeH-qq6cr I wear a chest strapped monitor.
Will this help the AC blow colder during summer? My 2010 f150 is not blowing cold enough. Even after an AC recharge, door actuator and evaporator core replacement. I can only get 58 in the vent temperature. I saw someone say rerouting away from the heater core will help cool the air more? Is that true?
@jacobchamblin6317 I have not heard of this before. I'm trying to think how the heater core would affect the AC but not coming up with any ideas.
Air filters and intakes do not ad power lol. Factory set-up will support alot more than youl every throw at it unless you put a turbo on and another 75 hp or more. Tuning the compter, adding camshaft, and increasing compression will ad power
You're right. And never once in the video is it stated, or implied, that these parts ad power. So, not sure what you are going on about.
Cabin noise comparison between the borla and fake engine noise at high rpm?
hi Justin, when the smaller lower bolt is moved to the top, it's has free play. Is it ok? will it move if hit potholes?
It should fine if torqued to the correct specs. But, a really bad pothole could potentially move it. Worst case is you just re-align it.
Thats thebperfect spot for a egt on that exhaust system. A little planning goes a long way drilling and tapping with that out of the car is the easiest best way. That pipe is thin did the threads hold up for you?
It held up fine there. But, I did end up moving the probe into one of the exhaust headers on driver side (3rd one back from the front). The temp reading on the downpipe where I had it originally is about ~200° lower.
@@TheBTRGarage I wonder if that is heat soak in the piping. You want the exhaust gas temp not manifold temp and I would think that turbo outlet is the most accurate reading of what is happening. Downstream of all of the cylinders. They move o2 sensors on turbo gas cars further downstream to prevent fowling but up by the turbo is the most accurate reading.
@theccwdad Yea, that reasoning is why I put it right after the downpipe originally. But, you might notice in the comments several people saying that's wrong and put it in the manifold/header pipe 😁 I thought I'd do it just to test, so now I know what readings are in each spot.
so if someone can develop an aftermarket dip stick or mod to gauge where the 1/2 quart , 1 quart plus fill marks are, this would be a good intermediate until an oil pan solution or better is developed.
@@LoveLikeaHurricane you just overfill the line by about 1/2".
Good advice about the jack stands! Great video.
Great video. It helped me out a lot
I loosened the hub bolts as described in the video but the hub did not seem to want to move in any way. I tried yanking on it pretty hard and even tapping it lightly with the hammer but it didn't move at all. Is there any trick to get the hub to move forward so that I can slip the 2.5 lugs in?
@@user-rj1xx1pp1j Make sure you have all 4 loosened? Should move pretty easily if the right bolts are out or loose.
@@TheBTRGaragemaybe I am just going crazy, but I saw all 4 of them loosened from the front and the hub still wouldn't move at all. Not even a slight budge as if it was glued. Maybe I'll just try taking them all the way out and see if I can move it that way. I wouldn't imagine that there's anything different with the 2023 model versus the 2022, but I could be wrong.
@user-rj1xx1pp1j weird, maybe try shooting some PB Blaster around the hub area where it seats. Shouldn't be any corrosion or anything on a new car.
What was the stock manifold prior to the old header?
Hey Justin, a question-two about Eibach springs you installed a year ago: Did they "destroy" your OEM dumpers? How many miles have you made with them so far?
@@user-ix9hl4uw5i No, OEM dampers are fine. Probably 4-5k miles on them now, probably a little more.
@@TheBTRGarage Thanks for the answer and GREAT VIDEOS
great video - I think I have 3 seized studs on rear drivers side, effing tire shop that repaired a punctured tire likely over tightened the lugs. Assuming I can somehow get the lugs off, will this method work with stock studs? I guess it might be even easier?
Yup! Should work just fine popping out the OEM studs 👍🏻
Talk about a thick bead of sealant. Might as well do this job again
Has it been squeaking for you?
No, not at all.
My Spal fan came with that small harness already attached and sealed into the fan, and also didn't come with anything else to plug it into if I were to cut it out. Yours came with everything you needed?
What size tire were you running here?
And were you on spacers? Any rubbing with the springs?
@@zenkijoe9022 those are the GT Radial 235/45/18's. 12mm spacers all around, no rubbing, but I also have shaved fenders.
Did you get a better mpg ?
Why add friction modifier with the oil?
How are you going to put the oil in when it’s time for oil change
Same way you would normally do it. There will be a little residual old oil in the cooler/lines, but not a big deal.
@@TheBTRGarage got it
The digital sound actually sounds really cool if you ask me. Sounds better than most aftermarket exhausts. The only issue for me is that its loud. Would sound better if it was quieter. I dont like loud exhausts personally. Its annoying after a few weeks and the power gain is usually minimal.
thanks a load. im glad you make this video
How did the aftermarket heater core hold up?
Still going strong with no issues, 4+ years later!
Sounds so much better!
Did he say seven dot three?
Hi, thanks for the video. May I as why you went with a thinner bar in the rear? From what I've seen, most guys go aftermarket in the rear as well so I am curious to know why you did that.
Provides more grip in low speed, tighter turn scenarios.
At 140 miles per hour mine exactly after following your video came off in one side and tremendous feeling when I hear the flapping noise.

What's the air filter replacement part No# or a link to purchase it. I have the black ver. From previous owner
What are those stands? I want those
Excellent product!
A lot of people say that draining the fuel bowl is unnecessary and that it’s better to let the new filter soak up fuel during the install process I’m not sure who to believe but I do know you don’t wanna do this with a hot engine. It’s a stinky game of hot potato.
What is the other relay in front of the glow plug relay?
awesome setup just a quick one, any rub to the front or rear?
Thanks! Fenders need to be shaved, or it would rub in the front pretty bad. With my fenders shaved the front will rub only under full load.
@@TheBTRGarage Thanks for your quick reply. I had ordered the CE28N plus 18x9.5 et 41 eta Dec 24. Brilliant explanation and video thank you
Hi Justin, what’s your take on people slamming on big brake kits on the twins? Have heard of owners swapping back to stock brake system with pads + fluids Realistically what you have replaced in this video should be plenty for a lapping day ya?
For stock/low power cars, the OEM brakes are fine (with good pads & fluid, of course). There are some benefits to a motorsport level or big brake style kit. Mostly convenience of changing pads, more heat tolerance and longevity, plus potentially big weight savings (like the AP Racing Sprint kit I had on my old BRZ). But yea, for most applications on low power the OEM brakes are fine. As you add more power and the car is faster, that is when I'd start looking at a higher performing BBK. Or, if you want to save every pound possible in weight savings.
Cheers!!! ❤ my 2002 is loving the love, man.
Which exact color is this?
Great vid, thank you. Am trying to decide between this cooler and a mishimoto cooler. I know the mishimoto is probably better for overall cooling but I’m only daily driving my 86. At least I know know how to install this one! Thanks
NICE! I GOT MY TRUENO GR86 WITH THE GR PERFORMANCE EXHAUST. NO DRONING. AND JUST AS LOUD AS IT NEEDS TO BE. FEELS REAL GOOD TOO. TAKUMI SENT ME. NAMASTE 🙏🏽 FROM BROOKLYN.
Is there a drain inside that catches coolant and is drained thro the engine bay. I have a leak and it sticks inside the engine bay by the Heater core area .
Nice review! I am planning to get this exhaust next week, but want to know how bad is the drone fist ? My set up is UEL catless header and OEM OP+FP. Thanks!!
Drone is minimal and should be especially minimal since you have the oem front pipe 👍🏻
does the AN fitting need to be at the galley port? my turbo oil line is coming from there. should i move my turbo oil line from the cam gear area and get a verus cam plate?
Hmm, that might be tricky. If there is another oil feed option for the turbo, I would move the turbo there. Keep the accumulator on the oil galley port.
