Hi there, i want to try to develop old ektachrome in rodinal at 1:25 or 1:50, any advice on timings.

It's no good for me using a computer screen, I tried to avoid the pixelation by putting a sheet of white paper over the screen, but the phone camera ended up showing all the blemishes in the paper pulp up against the screen light, making the negative hopelessly blurred!

I'll have to buy a light box I don't have an ipad. I'm gonna try using some clear acrylic drawers to hold down the negatives and balance my phone on! Can't wait!

Just put a new battery in a Nikon FG I bought in thrift store. You just explained why without film the light diodes are stuck flashing at 60 and 125 second ! Thank you I knew it had to be something only the internet utube could tell me! Thank you very much!

I just spent a whole frustrating evening trying to setup my camera on a tripod, putting film in a specially designed loader/holder (which sucked) and taking shots of my negatives. And here you are with a box and two cans of tuna. I love it! Thank you sir for pulling me out of a rabbit hole!

This was Nikon's first SLR camera with auto-exposure (AE) as an option for use, starting in 1972. At the same time, Nikon updated the regular Nikkormat to the FT2, mainly ditching mercury batteries. In 1977, both models were updated to change to AI meter-to-lens coupling, being the Nikkormat FT3 and Nikon EL(No real other change except the nameplate). In 1978, the FT3 discontinued in favor of the FM, and later the FE. The Nikon EL became the Nikon EL2 around 1979, eventually disappearing in favor of the FE2, EM, and finally the F3. The Nikkormat EL will work properly with pre-AI lenses, lenses modified to AI, and AI lens retaining the "rabbit ears" metering coupler (made for several years after the switch to AI mounts).

Hey Jeffery! I'm trying to solve a metering issue I'm having and stumbling across your informative video. My light meter stopped indexing with my aperture halfway through a roll of film. So, it's not this film advancing issue. Do you have any tips on how I might solve this? I took the lens off and its fins are moving correctly when I move the aperture wheel, and that little piece on the inner rim of the lens that communicates with the body is moving well, too. I'm wondering if my camera is dead... Any insight would be great! Thanks!

Thank you so much for the video and great explanation. The little locking lever was very stubborn and was so difficult to depress, but once I applied real force I was able to finally remove it. You gave me more confidence to keep trying.

It's not a problem though and nothing to solve, it's the way the Camera is designed, maybe if people actually read the Manual. FFS

I have a few old negatives (about 5) that I need to scan, and don't want to buy anything special to do it. I have been wondering if I could just use dollar tree frame glass and put that right on my cheap epson flatbed scanner. Wouldn't hurt to try I guess. Will try your way as well. Thanks !

I was honestly surprised the camera only functions properly when the battery is in place. Thought my shutter speeds got all messed up or something

K.I.S.S. Keep it Simple Stupid. It was what I taught my Photography students for forty years. Jeffery Howard does just that on this simple but effective way of scanning images. No fancy or expensive boxes or electronic device. It's just simple . Ask yourself.. What are your objectives? Just pulling the camera away from the light table to eliminate the pixels is once again. Simple. Great video and good job.

Works great! For 1Phone 14 pro I'm getting best resolution from a single tuna can. The only issue is a bit of reflection of the shiny camera housing area of the phone reflecting on the surface of the slide, only noticeable with a black background. Thanks for the vid!
