Willumsen Copenhagen Red E - Unboxing a Quintessential Little Big Knife
@LrdwEDC
@Willumsencph
The Red E by Willumsen Copenhagen is a sweet little “big” knife. This heavy built folder sports heavy milled tan and black g10 scales, a desert tan 14c28N blade with full flat grind, and a bar lock. Running in bearings allows for smooth action whether deploying via thumbstuds or bar lock release.
Overall, the fit and finish is excellent, and the design really speaks to me.

Agreed! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Looks awesome!
Thanks for watching and commenting! This is a really good full-size button lock, that comes in at a budget price. Adding the updated scales just takes it to the next level.
Mine came with extra springs for adjustment. FYI. Rock solid out of the box
Sounds like they have worked out the kinks, and adding extra springs is a great idea. Glad it is solid. I have a Little Main Street on the way, so this gives me hope! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I need this in a 74mm frame… and possibly with the “orange peeler” from the MiniChamp, and one other tool… maybe something new, like a letter opener?
That sounds awesome! Thanks for watching and commenting.

That handle looks awesome! Where do I get one?
Thanks for watching and commenting. Here is a link… whitemountainknives.com/mikkel-willumsen-red-e-axis-folding-knife-black-tan-sculpted-g10-handle-14c28n-plain-tan-blade-wlmre21tta/
Those washers have to break in, unlike bearings. Once they do break in, your action should be smooth as glass.
Hey, thanks for commenting. You are absolutely correct. It is already getting very smooth.
Don't lose your bearings or it's a potential wash out 😁
Thanks for washing and commenting!
Thanks for giving it a go! Im glad it helped improve the action a little. I believe you're right on the money about the narrow range of perfect tightness coming from friction of the washers and the spring tension of the Omega springs. Here's hoping that there is an omega spring out there that will give the bar lock more 'oomph' when sucking the blade back in. Cheers!
Couple more spring trial vids coming down the tract. FYI Kansept now has replacement springs, coupled with the washers, it is pretty sweet.
Good morning. Just watched your video and enjoyed it and like the scales and everything-wondering what that cost if you don’t mind me asking? Thank you and have a good day
Thanks for watching! The Lynch NW Mod Kit was about 120 at the time. Current versions appear to be between 150-160, here is the link…www.lynchnw.com/spyderco-delica-4-lynchnw-mod-2-titanium-scale-kits
@@LrdwEDC Hi. Thank you for getting back to me! I really appreciate it. Have a good day
You’re welcome, if you try the scales out, you are sure to be pleased.
I was gifted an arcade but in green, bead blasted it off and had my buddy cerakote sit for me.great Awsome knife prefer it over my ad20.5.
That sounds awesome! Thanks for watching and commenting.
That’s a clean knife bro. Looks good!
Thanks, the Ti inserts are pretty nice, and have a great texture. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The Penguin is so good. I have one on me today at work.
You know sadly I still have not carried the g10 variety, the Ti just seems so good. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have 10 Penguins, 7 carbon fibre, one brass, one denim micarta and a titanium version. I’ve only carried the denim micarta one. I bent the bloody clip today. All fixed now though.
Wow! That is a a flock of penguins! I think they call that a waddle.
I sincerely hope that Demko or Flytanium brings out a Sharklock knife with a 3.5" blade. And with decent style. The Arcade's handle looks about the same as a dull but fancy utility knife handle.
That handle is maybe lacking flash, but the neutral handle is quite comfortable in multiple grips. I am with you on the need for larger. Not that anyone can find, nor can I afford, but the AD20I and AD20S are definitely larger. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Wherever I look for it shows out of stock!
A few options for in-stock: www.knifecenter.com/item/VN06363033X1/victorinox-swiss-army-rambler-multi-tool-red-228-closed-old-sku-54031 smkw.com/victorinox-swiss-army-rambler-red Victorinox Rambler Swiss Army www.victorinox.com/en-US/Products/Swiss-Army-Knives/Small-Pocket-Knives/Rambler/p/0.6363
I put a small rare earth magnet inside. Glued it to one side of the G10 in the factory scale slots. 2 bucks from harbor freight. Added some detent. It's now my perfect knife.
Wow, that is an amazing idea! I will definitely pursue that. I have a Kansept Main Street that needs some serious detent help. This could really help. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@LrdwEDC Yeah I was thinking of making a video but I don't have a channel. It's actually super easy and you can just tear down the knife like you would a cleanup. Took all of 2 extra minutes while I was cleaning the knife.
That is super cool, would love to see a vid or some pics.
Nice looking knife. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, and thanks for watching and commenting!
Is the Flytanium better at slicing paper?
I would say similar, at .126 blade thickness on the arcade and .125 on the 20.5 this is very little difference in overall sliceness. I would pose both are maybe designed for a bit harder use, like amazon boxes 😆
Is the action smooth? My air lite is a bitch to open. I want to buy this though
Extremely smooth! However, there is no doubt that the Demko Shark lock or the snex lock found in the WE/Civivi Vision are easier to manipulate.
Looks Amazing!
Hey Thanks, it was the carry yesterday, and this blade feels so solid! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Look in to the Kizer titanium clip.
Ok, good call. I will check it out! Thanks.
Not at all but some functional problems once in awhile. Just make sure it says Free Return and check the knife out for about 3 weeks and make your decision 👍🏾
What I do now is Amazon free return only, unless I have to have a certain knife. And if anything feels funny during that 30 day period it goes back!
Good call. Have you run into any counterfeit problems via amazon?
Thanks for sharing! The blue on red is worse than meh, it's blech! Mixed saturated primary colors are too aggressive. White or pastel scales would play nicer with such a vivid accent color. For something more playful, contrast colors like blue, green & yellow. (Research design style "Memphis")
It is a bit harsh on first impression, but has grown on me. It does seem different color combos work for different people, but I do appreciate the input. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Send it back!
Well, putchase was August 2023, so not an option. Additionally, my opinion is once you disassemble it, it is yours. Sending back should be in NIB condition. Just my opinion. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting!
Very cool and good idea with the grip tape.
Well the tape kept falling off, but a very small amount superglue gel, then the tape strip, seems to be holding up well. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you so much for taking the time to create this great video! And how cool that your wife is there with you too! Sometimes, from some of other's videos, I get the impression that they're hiding down in the basement, hoping their wife doesn't find out what's going on 😅. I really dig your red and blue combination! I'm 52, just within the past couple of months have developed an interest in SAKs. They're definitely more affordable than motorcycle modifications (which was my previous hobby), and "almost" as much fun 😅. Just picked up my 3rd last Wednesday, a Rambler. My first two were the Huntsman and Fieldmaster, definitely great tools, but I quickly realized that they're just a tad bulky to be carrying in my pocket all day. I attatch whichever one to a Keysmart pocket clip so that they hang inside my front pocket. So far, I've switched the scales on both bigger knives: one now has green aluminum,, and the other has Tero Tuf, which I like the looks and feel of better. Have been toying with the idea of titanium scales for the Rambler, it's just difficult to justify the cost 😬😅. Thanks again! Looking forward to more content! Best wishes!
Hey, shout out to a fellow 52er! I really appreciate the feedback, and yes I am fortunate the wife is tolerant of the hobby. I like her input from the aesthetic, non-knife nut aspect. I haven’t braved a sak scale change as yet, but enjoy mods and upgrades, so maybe soon. The small army of classic sd’s I seem be acquiring could sacrifice one for the cause! Thanks for watching and commenting, it really helps!
Ordered same one as yours today, they had a recent drop so great upgrade from the frn.
Oh, you are going to be so pleased, these scales are a game changer!
How is it going?
I really like this Engage model, and is an excellent edc. I will admit the Flytaniim Arcade with the demko shark lock has displaced it a bit! Thanks for watching and commenting!
My only EDC now (aside from phone/wallet/keys) is The Manager (Rambler + Pen). The Phillips/bottle opener is the BEST combo tool Victorinox has made. Why? Because it's a SMALL, inline Phillips. It's the perfect size for the small screws you find in electronics (which I deal with FAR more than "regular screws). And the bottle opener portion eliminates the other openers because honestly... I can't remember the last time I needed a can opener in a pinch. 🤷 Plus, the nail file (which I use often) had a small slotted driver for those rare chances. I don't want a light. I have a phone. And once I learned about a trick to opening a wine bottle with a house key (yes this comes up, don't judge me), having a cork screw became less necessary. The only things I want on the manager (and I'm working on it) are a toothpick and a SIM tool. I'll probably just have to modify the scales a little.
That is awesome, i do really want a manager at some point, need to find one in blue! I do questions how long the pen lasts? Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@LrdwEDC As far as I understand, they're not making Managers now. I can't find them on the site or on Amazon. HOWEVER, they still make the Rambler (Manager without the pen, but you could add blue Plus Scales to get what you want), and I can still find the MIDNIGHT Manager, which is a Manager with a "flashlight" LED in it (however, I don't know how easy it would be to get after market scales made for the LED).
I still haven’t braved a sak scale change, i need to step up! Thanks for the info!
I did the kaleidoscope ones on the white and red Nitro. Then did kaleidoscope on the dessert banter then did the toxic ones on my black banter
Wow, that sounds really nice. Where did you get the scales, i would love to see you upload some clips with those sweet upgrades. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Yes I always replace the toothpick with a ferro rod.👍🏼
No that is a good upgrade idea! Thanks!
What's not to love? How it does not have a flashlight or pen. I'd go midnight manager, personally. 😋
No that is a great call, bit harder to find, but an excellent SAK! Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@LrdwEDC Amazon always has midnight managers, but the price has gone up quite a bit to around $56 now. I think it was like $15 cheaper just a couple of years back. 😣
Idk if I have bad luck or these are just sub par knives... I want to love it but both of the ones I've had had lock rock with the clip on it. Take the clip off and it was fine. No amount of retightening the hardware did them any justice. I just gave em away cuz they disappointed me. Love the design, and Ben Peterson I just think I got shafted both times
QC issue I would guess. I have 5, and have had that issue inly on the carbon fiber/Damascus variant. I haven’t tried without clip, will have to check it out as aI carry a couple with lanyards and no clip. Might also be worth disassembly and reassemble trying to adjust the scales and liners to get a cleaner fit. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Looks very nice. I wish i had bought that instead of the scales from RC Bladeworks!
I understand, the Ti scales are next level. However, i wiuld say the micarta and the original patterns from RC BW is pretty sweet! Thanks for watching and commenting, it really helps.
Boy the wharnie with these scales would look spectacular! It suck’s the scales are like… more than the blade lol
I haven’t tried the wharncliff blade in the bb, but i agree would be nice. Maybe if I can get the black ti scales, and a blackwash blade, thanks for watching and commenting!
Who cares about price when you get cool factor plus high grade material
You called that one right!
wharnie isnt compatible as both wharnie variants are micarta. micarta banters and baby banters used a different inset liner layout
@@peen2804 really….. interesting.. I got a set of carbon scales for my wharnie and was wondering why it wasn’t sitting! Interesting indeed thank you for that insight
very nice, glad that you are enjoying it !
Thanks again!
Hi friend thank you for the disassembly demonstration, I wonder if the detent and rattle could be gotten rid of by swapping out the bearings with washers as an alternative to a different pair of omega springs? I have noticed that most of my bearing-crossbar lock knives are easier to swing open than my washer-crossbar lock knives so perhaps the washers may prevent the blade from moving around as much. Just a thought. Cheers.
That is an excellent idea, i have a bunch of skiff washers, so I think this is worth a try! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hey, thanks for the suggestion, here is the link to the washers install. Really helped, but unfortunately I have 3 more vids coming as I try to get replacement springs that work. Kansept Main Street Round 2: Washers vs Bearings? #edc #modified #video czcams.com/video/QnWuK8xRk0k/video.html
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice. Thanks for sharing the comparison.
Question I just got the titanium body screws from flytanium are they different size screws?
I am pretty sure they are compatible. I have used the titanium bug out and mini bug out screws several times without any problems.
Chewed up scales from opening bottles? Wait... don't like all SAKs have a can/bottle opener?
Sad, but true! No excuses here, but was young and dumb. thank goodness for Victorinox’s amazing warranty! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice!
Thank you, I really like this one, and feels great in hand. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Incredibly thin, incredibly lightweight, incredibly sharp. I use mine for leatherworking a lot and it holds an edge.
Agreed! Always seems to find a way to sneak into the pocket for a day of carry!
👍🏼 Black accessories and orange lanyard to match the knife😁

@@LrdwEDC yeah man I thanks to you’re channel I believe got mine finally. There someone else I’ve asked months ago. Can’t find anything whenever I just look on google. Thanks
Thats awesome! Mine have held up well. The one on the lil native is going strong. The one on the sage unfortunately popped off when i dropped in on a hardwood floor. I need to clean it up, try to reinstall, although I may take the opportunity to het a new color.
@@LrdwEDC I know what you mean. Seems cool in your head. Then your like should of went with the other color. I overall pleased with my decisions. Not typical of me to say. Happy New Years Brothah!!!
I love the pattern on the new scales!! The final product upgraded looks great!!
Still one more step to go. Need to add a Lynch Northwest deep carry pocket clip, I am thinking about their sandblasted gray pattern. I think it will look really great! Thanks for watching and commenting, it really helps.
Those scales would have looked sweet with that black blade and black screws!
Dang it, you are so right! I guess that means another Baby Banter mod is in my future, lol! Seriously, that is a really good idea. Thanks for watching and commenting, it really is appreciated.
