My told me this morning that she saw a yellow bird in her yard and immediately this song came flooding in my memory from my childhood being a Brownie. I had to come look for it.
I was initiated into English music with this song way back in 1961, by Mr. GSD Babu, when we were studying in Loyola college, Vijayawada. He used sing very well and also used to play guitar.

I took the time to listen to the song yellow bird sitting in the banana tree. I first heard it being sung by the floor show my sister Tiresa Savini. I was taken by one thing about this song today. It is one given way to Cronos. I'm thinking Island life is a way to be vacationing year round. The real work is made essential to account for numbers. I remember a guy who pushed the envelope for dreams could be a satisfaction regardless. I never said he was bad. I did not take a liking to his being a DOC Holiday in my eyes. For your information this song is a cover of a poem entitled "Choucoune" which is the work of a Haitian poet named Roswald Durand. It was written in 1883, in the text it praises the beauty of a young Haitian girl. The poem was transformed into music in 1893. And its English version which is "Yellow bird" had been arranged by Norman Luboff in 1957.

The English lyrics of "Yellow Bird" bear NO RELATIONSHIP whatsoever to Oswald Durand's words; they're just grafted onto Mauleart-Monton's melody.
Note also that the Harry Belafonte version has different lyrics, ones much more closely related to the Oswald Durand poem. Which makes sense; Belafonte's guitarist at the time was Frantz Casseus, who like every Haitian had grown up with the original song and knew it well.

I'm practicing this song since my beloved role model aunt passed away last month.. She used to sing this song very beautifully when she had guests.. I've managed to sing another fav of hers.. Paper roses for a huge audience last year.. Coz most of the crowd was older. They enjoyed it a lot.. Towards d end I had tears streaming down my eyes!!!
