This girl that's talking has alot of self-loathing and self-hatred. She can't see how beautiful natural, unfiltered dark skin is and that's very unfortunate for her.

Did she just say the photos were “horrifying”? She is dead wrong. Those photos are gorgeous and show the authentic beauty of the subject-not some grotesque version done in post-processing.

I get what you're feeling. I was a teacher, and most t.v. shows and movies create classrooms that are nothing like the real thing. I have learned over time to let it go. It's just entertainment. Also, meditation is often made fun of on t.v. or in movies. I know how many benefits a regular meditation practice offers. But, people will do it, or they won't.

I settled for the Pigalles because the So Late was sooo uncomfortable. Kudos Zendaya that is not an easy shoe to walk in.

I think she needs to first recognize that Annie is not the stylist or makeup artist or hairstylist, she's the photographer who has captured incredible images & more importantly, memorable pictures. Zendaya's shoot is beautiful in the best way! Law made the right decision.

Sad that she can't appreciate how Anne Liebovitz showed the subjects' qualities. They were very enigmatic in their pictures. The rawness of their humanity and beauty. I love the crispness of the pictures that show even the smallest details of features of their skin that tells a story of who they are as a person and the life they've lived. They all looked beautiful, and powerful yet tranquil.

Reading the comments, I think people misunderstand the reason behind the negative criticism of Liebowitz’ photography of women of color like Viola Davis. Davis, Biles, and Nyong’o are beautiful and their beauty captured raw still comes through. The problematic choices for critics have been based on the “muted tones” chosen for several of the shoots for POC. It’s hard to visualize but for a good comparison see the Liebowitz photo of Davis and then see her in the Dario Calmese shoot for Vanity Fair July 2020. Lighting people with darker skin tones is a skill that challenges not only photographers but filmmakers, too. MIC magazine wrote a good piece on that in 2017 over the expert lighting by cinematographer Ava Berkofsky on properly lighting black faces for HBO’s Insecure.
