2 Meter Hybrid Ring to BPBR Duplexer conversion
This documents my adventure in converting a noisy Sinclair Hybrid Ring VHF Duplexer to a more reliable BPBR type. The modifications are primarily to add a series capacitor to the coupling loops and change the cabling harness.
While I had it in my garage, I also did a tear down of the cavity resonators and cleaned the sliding resonator rods and contact fingers.

Junk Ribbon Microphone conversion to dynamic type mic using a mylar 8 ohm speaker.

I got an inoperable ribbon mic from a fellow ham, don't know where he got it, but it was stripped and dead. I attempted to build a ribbon mic engine, (FAIL) and eventually used a small mylar speaker to convert it to a dynamic mic. I recorded my adventures in repairing / converting this mic into something useable. This is also my first adventure with Clipchamp, please give me your feedback for f...
Repair of 900 Mhz Bandpass filter

A Wacom WP-494 adjustable coupling band pass filter that came to me for repairs. I have shown in this video, several hours of time compressed snips highlighting the process used to identify the problems, disassembly and repair techniques, intermediate checkout, reassembly and re-alignment after the repairs.

Part 2 of 220 Mhz ham radio VHF repeater duplexer rehab. This video is of rough-in and fine tuning of band pass and notch frequencies using a Nano VNA for tuning. This video was recorded over 2 hours of tuning, tweaking and adjusting, and condensed into 5 minutes. I hope this gives you some understanding of the theory of duplexers and the crankyness of the tuning.

Overview of Sound Card Oscilloscope and dual audio frequency and sweep generator implemented in software. The output of the audio generators is connected to a USB simple spectrum analyzer D6 using the VFO function to generate 1 khz and 131.8hz PL tones. Additionally running the USB SSA D6 signal through a salvaged HP attenuator to a recently repaired hamtronics receiver. The rx audio fed back i...
USB Simple Spectrum analyzer D6 add on attenuator and FM mod

Taking a stock USB spectrum analyzer, adding a salvaged step attenuator to lower the RF output from 0dbm to lower then -120dbm, adding a shielded enclosure, and doing a simple add on modification which allows you to FM modulate the VFO / tracking generator of the D6, or probably any similar device using the sound card in your PC. This mod should work to modulate most ADF series frequency genera...

This is the 3rd video in a series of experiments and tests using the SSA D6 Chinese USB Spectrum Analyzer by Azeroth Windwhisper. In this video I discovered that the Tracking Generator square wave shape causes unexpected errors with the response graphing of a notch filter. I also discovered that the Tracking Generator reaches the target frequency 110 khz before the Spectrum Analyzer input Local...

This is part 2 in a multi part series experimenting with the Banggood Simple Spectrum Analyzer D6, designed by Azeroth Windwhisper. In this video I demonstrate using the built in tracking generator of the D6 to generate some stable frequency VFO signals, and to also sweep the frequency of the tracking generator to do Antenna SWR sweeps across wide frequency ranges and to sweep a couple of band ...

Testing functionality and sensitivity of 35 mhz to 4400 mhz simple spectrum analyzer board with tracking generator and return loss bridge. The receive sensitivity is quite low, and hard of hearing. The direct conversion receiver has a rather broad pass band making it difficult to separate nearby signals. I compare it against a $15 DVB-T TV & FM USB tuner device which does a fantastic job for th...

Noisy ham radio UHF BPBR WACOM duplexer, testing, diagnosing, rust removal, disassembling and repairing and reassembly. Testing performed with HP spectrum analyzer with tracking generator. Video made afterwards from photos taken during tear down, test and repairs. This information is applicable to other bands and types of duplexers. I did not plan to make a video of the process, but think that ...
