    Hi, hope everything works out well with the storm. I have 5 rows of tomatoes 50 feet long that I need to fertilize. I have one of those Chemilizers, but I have never used it. I am going to try to fertilize my tomatoes with the Chemilizer tomorrow. I have a bag of 20-20-20 soluble fertilizer, but I am not sure how much to mix in 5 gal bucket. How often should I fertilize? The plants are good size and starting to produce fruit.

    • @CherryHillFarm
      @CherryHillFarm Před 11 dny

      @rogerhall2123 if it's a 1:100 injector, I'd run 1 lb / gallon of solution and run it every day that'll give you 200 ppm nitrogen.

    • @CherryHillFarm
      @CherryHillFarm Před 19 dny

      @austinhirsch9286 that will depend on what injector you're using and how much you need to irrigate. I use however much water it takes to dissolve (the amount of fertilizer I need) and carry it out the line to the field. Solution volume isn't really critical, only the amount of fertilizer in the solution/ acre. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching

    Definitely learning alot from u. I'm an aspiring market farmer. Been doing alot of testing the last couple of years getting ready to start growing larger scale. Hopefully in the next year or 2, I will b starting my first acre of feild for sales. But I take everything u say in stride. The smart ones realize that the info u give is only generalized and we have to do our part to try and figure out what actually works for our climate. I'm in central Canada. So I know I can't grow as early or as late as u. We have diffrent weeds and different climate that affects everything that we do. Though some of the things u do, I've tried on my own stuff. The whole calcium nitrate and magnesium sulfate (I think that's right) every other week for each product has been a game changer. I've only just started that schedule and my tomatoes and peppers are growing better than I've ever seen. Can barely walk through the row of tomatoes right now they r so thick and healthy. I am dealing with some cat face and blossom end rot, but that may b the variety of produce I am using. Gonna hit them hard with the calcium nitrate next weekend and see how things progress. Thx for all u do. Keep the videos coming.

      Plastic over bare ground will roughly double your yield on most crops if everything else is the same except the plastic. White plastic is better than black after the weather gets hot. For us, after the middle of May, we switch to white. It seems like Seeds germinate better, and they will get up and going without scalding out. You just don't need the added soil temp from the black in hot weather

    Why don’t you try 1 row using mushroom compost or horse manure and a sprinkling of gypsum, bone meal, and wood ashes. Then feed each plant a small handful of epsom salt once every 2-3 weeks. Chemical fertilizer will never compete with biological organic.

We are on about perfect black dirt where we live,which sounds impressive ,,but,,, without fertilzers ,,you simply will not get any vegetables,,we have found. That being said.. what are you thoughts,on,,,say theoretically,,,if you could get like chicken litter delivered to your farm,,from a local chicken growing facility,,, ,all you had to do is broadcast it,,would it be worth it to you,,,or you prefer using the various fertilizers you have used in the past. A couple growing seasons we scored a good supply of rabbit manure,,,and these two years was the best producing years we have ever had,,,we just have two 50 x 50 ft plots,,,for our own use,,,canning. • @CherryHillFarm
      @CherryHillFarm Před měsícem

      @calebboulds once a tomato is breaking color, it gains nothing by continuing to hang in the field. The flavor will not improve or change. When picked at "breakers" the fruit is very durable and is easy to handle, wash, grade etc. Also, I can manage how fast they turn red by what temperature i store them at. I can keep them for a week or more in our 50° cooler or ripen them quickly out in ambient temps. From breakers point on, the risk of loss increases daily from Animals, disease, splitting from heavy rain, insects etc.
