Jeep Junkies Going Topless for Pink 2022
In a world of automotive culture, there exists a peculiar tradition known as “Jeep ducking.” While not as recognized as other automotive manners, such as waving to fellow Jeep drivers or the Jeep wave, this practice holds a special place in the hearts of Jeep enthusiasts worldwide. Originating from humble beginnings, Jeep ducking has evolved into a lighthearted and endearing custom that fosters camaraderie among Jeep owners. The origins of Jeep ducking can be traced back to the early days of World War II. As the United States military deployed its robust fleet of Willys MB and Ford GPW vehicles, soldiers quickly formed a deep attachment to these rugged and versatile machines. Amidst the harsh realities of war, soldiers found solace and amusement in personalizing their Jeeps, often affixing makeshift mascots and ornaments to the front grille. One such ornament that gained popularity among servicemen was the rubber duck. While the exact reason behind choosing a duck remains uncertain, theories suggest that it symbolized good luck or served as a whimsical reminder of home amidst the chaos of battlefields. Regardless of its initial significance, the rubber duck became an iconic fixture on many Jeeps, earning it the moniker “Jeep duck.” After the war, as veterans returned home and civilian versions of Jeeps became available, the tradition of adorning Jeeps with rubber ducks persisted.
The thermostat was one that I needed the OEM part for. Thanks for the video 👍🏼
How were the snaps installed?
@@j.g.1351 It was a while back when we installed this top but I don’t remember any snaps. Let me know if that answers your question.
At least I’m not the only one 🤣 started yesterday with two complete jeeps and ended with both interiors completely out to swap, all started because the headliner 😅
What driveshaft and u joint set up did you go with
Wow very cool
You have to take off fender flares
@@lilliam219 yep!
Looks like a nice drive, vacation and camping! Not those ones where I feel like I am risking my life and vehicle and I will be lucky to crawl out of the wilderness.
Beautiful ❤
When you ground the sending unit, where does it go to, frame or body? And what type of grounding screw?
To the frame and any self tapping screw to get a good bite into the frame
@@41GarageandGrill thanks!
What tool was he using to remove those two hoses?
AC/Fuel line disconnect removal tool. You can pick it up and any parts store. Usually comes in a kit with several sizes
@41GarageandGrill thank you! I was having trouble with those knobs that sit on those hoses. Oh fun times 😂
This is the worst thing to happen to the Jeep community
The is def one of those, you are one side or the other subjects. I always wondered how it started and surprised when I found out the story behind it. I thought the fad would have passed by now and surprised when I see Jeeps dashes loaded down with ducks.
What size tires are you running on the xj?
31 x 10.50 R15. I’ve been really happy with that setup. Thanks for watching let me know if you have more questions.
As another poor man, where can I find such a thing
Wifey found it on the internet. I can't remember the name of the company
Dorman sucks. The ball is smaller than the OEM
yes sir
Thank you!
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching and commenting
Reading Comments happens to be funny. Like reading “You didn’t show how you got this out.” Comments like that have to be from some under 50 Clown. My advice to them “Take your vehicle to a mechanic and pay for the work.” That way you can tell him what he should have done
That is so true and would be so funny to do at a shop. Thanks for watching and commenting
Great video man. Very well done. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😎
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback and glad you liked it
One of those bumpers is for 96 and down and the other 97 and up. the beat up one is the 96 and down i believe, the fenders are slightly different where the bumpers wrap around. Id love to find a beat up arb i kinda want to steal some bits off of it. I really like the arb bumper for the xj. My arb on my xj is actually from a land rover i cut it up and reworked it and i really like the look it still looks like a arb but its unique and i really beefed up the mounts to run down the frame and gusseted things so it can handle heavy winching. Ive ran my bumper for at least 10 years and this last refresh of the jeep recently i considered purchasing a new bumper like a new arb for a cherokee or i also liked the trail ready full guard bumper. But after talking to some friends and thinking about it i decided to keep my custom arb and freshen it up because its so unique and really is part of the character of my cherokee and it looks nice too. I've put that bumper through hell I'm hard on front bumpers. Theres many bumper options available but i prefer a full guard so that limits my options and I'm pretty picky so theres only a few id consider like the arb of course but then theres the ares fab evolution bumper with the full grill guard but im not sure you can get it with a winch mount. Then theres the trail ready full guard bumper that one seems nice. Warn made a full guard bumper that was decent looking but i don't think its available anymore and I'm unsure of the look. Theres a bunch of other bumpers that dont quite have enough protection or the guard portion is too ugly etc... A person could fix up your beat up bumper and buy a set of universal bumper brackets iron rock makes some i like. You could definitely use those brackets to mount that bumper with a little cutting and welding, you may even be able to get away with just cutting down the universal brackets and drilling some holes to bolt it together if welding isnt an option. I wouldn't completely give up on your beat up arb i haven't really inspected it but i think its salvageable although it may take some thought and work to really make it look nice but it could definitely get a lot better I think it would be a fun little project.
I love these bumpers and can't believe how well they are made. Would be cool to see the one you modified to fit yours. I ended up selling the 2nd one on FB to a someone who is planning on using it for his project
The bearing puller is supposed to go behind the bearing so as not to damage the bearing for reuse. Probably won't matter when you are replacing the bearing but I have never seen anyone use a puller like that.
yes I'm thinking just replace everything now while the transmission is out rather than have to possibly do it later.
Thanks for the video on your Jeep road trip! I just found your channel and think that it will be a great one to watch. I am 64 and my first vehicle was a 49 willys. I have loved older jeeps ever since. You must not be very far from me as I noticed you were talking about the Newport Hill Climb. I am from the C-Ville area. Thanks again for the great video!
Your correct tailgate is on your wall at 13:04. I just bought a running willys overland truck and it runs has the 170 Special Six engine and it runs and purrs. I am 80% complete with a 1946 willys CJ2A and then I am going to tear into the OW truck. Great video
Yeah you are correct about that. I picked the tailgate on the wall long after the truck. I debated about switching but decided to keep with what I had since there are a lot of non 48 parts on the truck. Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it.
Damn. That shouldnt have came off like that lol. It should be torqued down to 176 pounds.
Hey buddy, I have gone through thermostat problems with my 2012-Jk about 7 months ago with aftermarket units because Mopar units were on worldwide backorder. What I finally figured out was, the aftermarket units from multiple parts sources were assembled wrong! The spring was upside down on units I had purchased from Auto Zone and Napa both! I noticed the one you installed in this video had the spring installed wrong also! If you still have it installed, you should replace it!
That’s very interesting. I’ll have to look into that. It’s been running fine. I have not had any issues since replacing it but it’s scary buying parts anymore. All the parts stores seem to be selling junk.
PARABÉNS pelas belas Maquinas !!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏
Awesome video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. thanks for watching
Go Kay Go!
Absolutely! She needs to break my record 🙂
I saw this video and I started dismantling. But You didn’t show us the hard part: getting loose those 2 bolts on the bottom!!! They just go round sns around, and there is no way getting to the head of tje bolts beacause of the radiator.
Sorry I don't remember that one. I must have got lucky and it came out. Hope you are able to get your taken care of
I have one on my 1999 XJ, with Warn winch. Wifee loves it. I wanted a BadDadFab hidden winch bumper, but I do have to admit the ARB will provide more protection if a deer or elk jumps out in front of us. (Idaho)
That sounds awesome! I still haven’t picked up a winch yet but it is on the list. Thanks for watching and sharing your setup!
I picked up a 49 Willys pickup in January for a winter project. Truth be told it will probably be a 2 year project. Mine also came with a Hurricane 134 that was not original. My 134 came out of a 53 military Jeep (M38-A1). I decided to keep the engine, freshen it up and paint it the olive drab so everyone knows where it came from.
Gas Gauge on my ‘75 CJ-5 works fine but the one on my ‘77 CJ-7’s Speedo Unit isn’t working.
That's a bummer. Hopefully this video will help you find the problem. Most times it is as simple as a ground
My gas gauge shows half a tank when it’s actually empty. What causes that?
Most likely need to adjust the float. If you know approximately how much gas is in the tank you can take a ohm reading and that should tell you if it is the float or the gauge
Heck yeah!!!
I need to do the same thing with my TJ. It doesn't look too be to hard, so I'm sure I can accomplish that. 😅.
Jeeps don't like crappy parts always use OME
That is the truth!
going to the jy this morning, there is a 98 5.9 limited zj there with an arb bumper... my 5.9 limited i hit a deeer 2 years ago and it destroyed my grill and bumper, so im using a basic zj grill and basic unpainted bumper, it looks wierd on my silver 5.9 limited..... i hope this 5.9 limited isnt stripped yet as i would really really like to have this arb bumper, and a 5.9 grill again.. wish me luck... my wagoneer and Jeep j10 all have steel bumpers factory of course and the factory brush gaurds on em,, so im not too worried with deer on those but my zj.. i gatta get rid of that plastic bumper or the next deer i hit at 60mph might total me. As for tire carrier, what i did to my wagoneer, was i got a Kurt tire hitch carrier, and a folding hitch attachment, and so my spare actually folds down when i pull the pin. This way my tailgate can come down. 5 more hours and im going to the jy.. havent slept all night on top of the bumper and grill i need, the 5.9 has tons of parts worth good money on ebay like the electric fan the hood louvers and other stuff... so im praying to the jeep gods it isnt been picked yet.. I do worry though the intructions say it has 30mm bolts.. lol a 30mm wrench is huge.. i got some giant ones but not sure i got 30 i know in mm i think the biggest i got is only 22.. but in inchs i got some way at 1inch and i think 1 size of up from 1 inch so i gatta check..
Keep me posted how the trip went. It would be cool to see all your Jeeps. Sounds like you’ve got some good ones! I like the idea for your tire carrier too. Very creative way to work around the tailgate dropping.
@@41GarageandGrill uploading the video as we speak.. I do have clips of all my Jeeps go check me out gatta look for em though. Lots of vids of me rebuilding the J10
@@41GarageandGrill i did get the bumper for 80$ hahaha. I also got lucky and thr jeep had the 5.9 limited grill. So finally after 2 1 2 years i git the uniwue grill back for my Jeep.... Also got a new leather center arm rest as mine is jacjed up from sweat iver the years. And the hood louvers. Ill sell those but i need to replace one with a broken one my jeep has. So in all i got lots of parts to get ny niner back to itself. Yea i have 4 Jeeps. Two 98 Grand Cherokees. One a 5.9 limited one a base 4.0 but it has 430k miles now weve had it since day 1. Also have a 90 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. And a 76 J10 with an 8ft bed. The J10 is my biggest project. I got it fof 800$ rusted pile of crap.. took me 4 months to rebuild the floor boards. And the entire bed floor and all the bed cross members
I dig this channel.
Thanks!! I really appreciate that!
I’m getting ready to do this soon, have you had any issues with newer dust cover seal a year later ?
I did not have any issues with the dust cover but plan to put them on any future projects. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video. I really appreciate you showing the install with the engine in the vehicle. Most similar videos show the install on an engine out of the vehicle.
Awesome! Glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
New subscriber! Great job man! Be careful with that Jeep addiction... 🤣
Ha! No doubt it is an addiction! Thanks for the sub and joining the chaos!
Found them. Thank you. Can’t afford them but I did find them.
I am struggling with the same problem right now. I bashed the block hugger and then seen it wasn’t going to work cause of the motor mount, came inside and found your video. I can’t find where you say what them headers are called.
I’ll look for the order and let you know
On Summit website part number Sanderson Headers CC3-158-SEC. Hope that helps!
Yea same thing happened to me (2012 jeep wrangler sahara). On sunday after doing some of roading. I had a hard time taking it off 4low. When i did, i hit the road and it reved up to 4k almost 5k rpm, it wouldn’t jump to second. I got it home on first gear driving 20 mph smh, scanned for code and got UO414. Replaced the tranfer case indicator switch like you and it fixed the problem. Fairly simple fix, $100 buck for the oem mopar part, same part number as yours
It’s crazy that one part can wreak so much havoc. Glad you got yours fixed.
Hey I just tried using 4wd in my 2001 tj 4.0. Got the Jeep a year ago for free and don’t k On my way! Any history on it. Either way when I shift into 4H or low it doesn’t engage and no light comes on. I’m figuring I need a new switch but would a bad switch not engage the 4wd? Any ideas
This switch is nothing more than something that turns on and off the light in the dash. In you case I would start by checking the linkage and rolling the Jeep back and forth while moving the lever to see if you feel it engaging
My cherokee has been sitting on one jack because the passenger side front tire won’t hold air and the shock absorber is shot so without the jack it was really leaned to the right lol
Ha I love it! Hope you get her back on her feet and on the road!!
If i send you some quarters, can you ship me some of those lug nuts? 😂😅
For you, 5 for a dollar. They are all gently used never been raced 😂
Is the replacement of the Camshaft Synchronizer a critical replacement with the sensor?
yes it will cause the engine to not run properly if at all. may leave you stranded somewhere if you don't fix it. thanks for watching keep me posted
Came here looking for footage of how you got the zippered windows in. Just installed mine and it’s ridiculously tight and near impossible. Even when I lowered the bar, it was challenging to get them installed. Then getting the bar back into posting to the strength of two grown men. Feels like I’m missing some trick.
I didn't have issues with the windows but did struggle with the bar the first time. If you get it out in the sun to warm it up it seems to loosen it up enough to get everything in place. It must all stretch out after time because it goes up much easier now than the first few times. I do agree the first time I thought I was doing something wrong because I remember thinking something would break or tear if I kept pushing any harder. I am very happy with it over the years and I am sure you will be too. Thanks for watching
Not sure what is wrong with this transmission??
