Oh my!! This is the most dramatic and emotional I have seen you perform. This was a wonderful display of voice dynamics and range. I enjoyed it tremendously. The piano rendition was very much involved with the emotional results that flowed into me while you were playing, especially the interludes. This was an exceptional video. It appears that you play the F and A together 3 times when playing up to speed but when you teach the phrase step by step you play the 2 notes together twice before moving to the second part of the phrase. I am not saying this to be critical. I just want to know if I am missing something? Hands down you are the best teacher I follow on CZcams so please don’t think I am questioning your abilities!!!!
No worries… It’s been a long time since I filmed this, so I don’t remember exactly… But I’m sure what I’m teaching when it’s slowed down is what is most correct. Once you get it up to speed, it takes on a bit of a life of its own, and, I wouldn’t have put it past me to make a few mistakes… But definitely practice what is taught at the slower pace and try to increase the tempo gradually on that.

Hi Steve, Thank you for your thought-provoking presentation. The three questions made me focus on my dream of accomplishment at the piano and asking, am I practicing what I need to be successful? Everyday is a blessing and I feel wonderful everyday and all day. It is a privilege to be able to go to this fine instrument and try to make music. Sitting down to study both physically and mindfully is one of my joys of the day. 1. I want to play from lead sheets from the American Song Book of Standards, Cocktail Lounge style. I like melodic songs and when I find one in "today's music" I will add that to my repertoire. 2. I spend most of my practice time learning 2-5-1 progressions and 7th chords. The other almost drill is using inversions in progressions and learning which one should follow the first one, ie starting with the 1st inversion chord, moving to the 2nd inversion of the next chord with the correct fingering. I am trying to move smoothly and efficiently. 3. I have joy and peace in my life so I do not experience "bad days." I enjoyed your song and you sang it with such emotion which evoked emotion in me as I listened. The different intonations in your voice were well received. Thank you.
