We did not need to go supersonic: we have extremely agile and fast air to air Missiles. Dark forces in the RAF could not face the excellence that was a sub sonic weapons platform. They chose highly polished turds tied to runways! Imagine the effect of HARRIER in Ukraine!

Unfortunately the man who invented the Harrier was never rewarded for his invention as he was in the military his invention was taken as part of his job and the British sold the rights for the Americans to build it for 1 million pounds, not 1 million per Harrier they built but 1 million for as many as they could make. Yet again stupid British government gave it away, they did exactly the same with the hovercraft.

As an apprentice sheet metal worker turned engineer in the UK who cut his teeth in aerospace, on the harrier, it saddens me that our aircraft industry is all but dead these days. Like many the last major program I worked on before moving to Automotive was the eurofighter and even that didn't feel the same. I'd imagine there's little to no connection felt between the industry in the UK and the F35, would be interested in hearing from people still in the industry what their thoughts are?

It's a shame that a fascist junta created this Malvinas myth, which persists to this day, to galvanise support from the citizenry it was torturing and murdering; creating this whole war. I believe that the British forces were right to rescue the population of the Falklands, not one of which were Argentinian and while I have sympathy for the lost Argentinian troops I have none for their aspirations. Well done Gentlemen!

  • @willienelsongonzalez4609

What I find absolutely fascinating, yet worrying, is the amount of damage these incredibly brave individuals dealt on the invading RUF forces. Minimal gear, minimal weapons and ammunition yet through sheer ingenuity and working in coordination and cooperation with the villagers these troops were able to exercise controlled aggressive tactics to yield a successful repulsive attack. I find it somewhat disheartening that they weren’t able to get the necessary equipment that they should have had once a decision had been made for the troops to stay for longer than initially planned, but it’s a testament to the grit, discipline and commitment these troops demonstrated. To find out that there was no QRF and no additional resources must be have so disheartening yet these brave soldiers dug in deep within their souls to protect innocent villagers.

It was an honor to be part of the Danish contribution there. And we'll be back again next year. The Estonians were very professional, and it was such a different experience to be on an exercise where civilians just go about their daily lives. Unfortunately, most Argentinians have not moved on after the conflict ended in 1982. They’re still stuck in the past wanting to claim the islands for themselves. The Argentine government could arm their military with Russian and Chinese weapons and equipment if they want to, but they will still lose and they know it. Argentina, please, do not start another war.
