Fished here and usually they eat good abt an hr and a half before high tide, i go 3hrs before and stay till 30min-an hr after hightide ends depending on the bite, so usually around 3.5-4hrs. I've landed 8 last week in the afternoon and 5 of which were keeper size but not too big. It's a nice spot but there are bigger ones elsewhere

Ive fished John's pass since I was a little boy. Those pin fish are what's stealing your bait. They can nibble away at it without you feeling a thing. Lotsa mullet out there too, sea bass, red and yellow fin jacks. My best luck out there was to always catch some of those pin fish at your feet with a cast net and then use that as bait. Bring a few doughballs, some shrimp and a frozen squid or two, and it can be a busy day at the pass.

There are Redfish on the northwest jetty. If you use sibiki rig size hooks baited with a tiny piece of greenback or squid and get some small pinners or you can just go buy a few at one of the baithouses. Small pins, 2-3". Take and freeline a live pihfish just in the water along that NW jetty on the outgoing tide, and you're going to bag a Redfish or two. Let you bait drift out along the rocks if you can, when it's not too crowded. I've got quite a few there, that way. Great eats. I like catching pinnners on those tiny Sibiki size hooks too. I'll string up 3 or 4 and many times, I'd reel in 2 pinners on one cast 😊

Caught a 24 inch Lady Fish yesterday around dinner time using a 3 inch Greenback. Using it as Blacktip bait tomorrow night. There's a secret trench that the bigger fish run here.

Glad to see you on here, especially fishing so close to where I live and fish. I am slowly trying to learn how to fish around here, being someone who grew up in Tennessee. Most of my experience is fresh water. Everytime I went to the coast for vacation growing up, I would fish in salt water, and I love it. I find it vastly more compelling than fresh water fishing. But since I moved to Port Richey, FL, I have not been able to figure out how to fish here with any success. I have been watching your videos for over a year. And this one caught my eye, because this past Saturday night, I fished all night long at Anclote pier, and all I caught were two hard head catfish and a puffer fish. lol I did use a sabiki for the first time and caught some bait off the pier, but that was the only successful part of my trip. I would certainly welcome any advice you could offer. I have fished under the bridge at the end of Sims part in New Port Richey, on Main St, in cotee river park just down stream from there, Brasher Park and the road leading out to Green Key park. The only time I hooked anything good it broke off before I could land it. I will be watching more, and hope to learn a bit from you.

I’ve fished there a few times but I’ve only ever caught some bonnet heads. I’ve seen others catch jacks, ladies, rays, trout and hard heads but always few and far between. Love watching the local content, keep up the great videos!

I grew up in the area, went to Dunedin high school class of 89. Fished on the causeway all the time, good times.
