SHIP SHAPE: The ONE exercise routine we use to stay fit and healthy
On a boat, space is limited, our world is small, but we like to stay fit and healthy, so how do we do it? ONE simple exercise routine is the foundation for it all, and in this episode we show you what it is. You might be on a boat, you might be in an apartment, but you don't need an expensive gym membership, or even a lot of time. We do this routine even out here in remote fiji on our catamaran, as we cruise the islands of the Lao group. You can be boat fit even if you live on land. You just have to train like a pirate !

Fiji's best kept secret?

Just where is this sailboat nirvana, this promised land of anchoring bliss? A location that would be on the top 5 in any Fiji list? We will tell you, and you should go!... But in the meantime, join the Rio crew as we seek out this dream location, and on the way set a new top speed record of 19.3 knots, that's 36 kilometres an hour in a 40 foot catamaran... the captain is chuffed. There's also a...

Enough pretty anchorages, lets go sailing! We've been soaking up the beauty of the remote islands of the Lao group in Fiji, but today is a sailing day. Fast and loose is the captains order and Rio loves to deliver. Join us as we barrel through the atolls on our catamaran to an island with the most narrow and dangerous outer reef pass we have ever encountered.

Empty fridge and freezer, three days sail from any supermarket, and a family to feed. Living on a catamaran in remote paradise is mind blowingly good, but it can also be stressful... however nothing sharpens the prehistoric senses like an empty belly and a crew to feed! I used to live in a warmer climate where I could go mountain biking and trail running all year long but since moved to a 4 season environment way up north which has prevented me from getting back into the groove. I used to run 60 miles a week and mountain bike on the road about 80 to 120 a week. My favorite was ridding up the steepest and longest paved road I could find. I would also either trail run or ride once a week on an epic long distance all day deal and take one day off to rest. I did this all after work in the evenings and weekends after working construction all day. Now I just do construction and that's my exercise. I miss getting that natural high after about 5 miles into the trail where you feel like your done and then all of a sudden you can go forever and felt like Superman.

That's why we need 'wreck removal' in our insurance policy now, surprised the owner wasn't sued or made to remove it from that pristine area! Never knew Jeanneau made Cats either but i do know Beneteau make Lagoon Cats and Beneteau also bought out Jeanneau late 1990's so i'd say it's just marketing getting traction from the J name as Beneteau would of actually built it, no history i know of that Jeanneau themselves ever built a Cat?

1st. I was solo sailing on my Nacra 6.0 with the main and spinnaker up on a wide reach with the center boards up in over 40 knots of breeze. I took off in the morning and didn't realize that it was forecast to blow hard that afternoon so I was caught out in this weather due to not paying attention otherwise I wouldn't have gone out that day. The wind was blowing so hard that the sand on the beach was lifting off the beach hard and hitting my face. Anyways, I was going so fast that my rudders were throwing a rooster tail and humming/ vibrating very loudly. It was very wild and the fastest that I've ever been on a sailboat. Another time I was aboard a 165 ft. gaff rigged schooner and we hit 27 knots on a reach with all sails up except for the fisherman, both top sails and we didn't have a spinnaker or a 120 genoa. Just the classic old school sails is all. On the 20 ft. beach cat, I was for sure going way faster than 27 knots but I don't know how fast I was going. The swells were all white caped. I was able to take down the spinnaker by laying out my lines so that they wouldn't get a knot in them when running through the blocks, laying down with my toes controlling the tiller extension and stuffing the shoot into the spinnaker bag. Then I headed up wind turned the rotating mast so that I could take down the main and sailed back to the beach with the jib on a rolling furling system.

You ever thought of having a few inflatable bags handy with a gas cylinder to fill them and or a compressor incase your hull is punctured and of coarse a petrol powered high flow water pump .

  •  Před 23 dny

My adult kids are thankful now I stressed to them not to take this under any circumstance especially even if fined as I was alerted early by an Aussie ytber not to and check the safety data on your choice of products web site for yourself and there in plain text most of the now potential side-effects like heart attack and to see if your employer would fill out a work safety form incase of bad side-effects and none would and funny how my doctors got very angry and resentful towards me when I refused to take because they were forced to for their jobs as they let me know that very quickly , I then proceeded to tell them of confirmed deaths and injury examples and they both went silent just stirring at me with wide open eyes all the time keeping a calm nice speaking tone . The longer G overnment delay a full royal commission the worst it gets for their reputations going forward as new evidence comes to light every day against this ex periment gone so badly wrong but am so glad you did not end up like Warny and many many others Denham your daughter is going to need her dad around a lot longer , kind regards much respect for speaking out when you did because your reputation has not been damaged going forward .
