i think the songs meaning is something along the lines of wanting to make amends with the past, 'get yourself home and give something back'' could mean wanting his past self to not leave something/someone behind and or make amends as well as his present self not being able to go home and do so im not actually too sure if thats actually the meaning but im assuming it is it also sounds as if hes unsure with his present self somewhat because of his past actions but on a positive note it also conveys the message he indeed wants to do better and will do so because of this self recognition, recognizing your short comings is a way to do better unless you double down on them lol peak singer in my opinion This is just like my interpretation on it that i wrote on the spot, i dont know the actual meaning but this is what i personally got from it
